4/5Very Good! (59 reviews)
"Our party of 6 arrived late after a long day of hiking, zip lining and bumpy roads at Monteverde. Dinner was okay, no raves/no complaints. They gave us 2 complimentary flights of beer (nice), but (trust us) don’t come for the beer. The room was rustic and felt dirty. We had a family room w/ 4 dbl beds - basically one long room with a shared BR partially dividing it. We were aware there was no A/C at this hotel, but there was only 1 ceiling fan in that long divided room, and it didn’t work. In order to have any ventilation we had to have the patio door wide open and there was no screen door so bugs/creatures could come in all night. The toilet either wouldn’t flush or ran all the time (didn’t discover til 12a). The hotel had stocked our room with two tiny thread bare towels for 6 people. The beds were concave and pillows were tiny and flat. The pool looked nice, but the spa was empty & looked like no one had been in it for a decade. The best part was being woken by the sound of howler monkeys at 5am. They sounded like they were getting closer and would be walking through the patio door any moment. It was thrilling, and I was glad to be awake to see the sunrise and watch the birds, although not everyone appreciated the wake-up call. Breakfast was delicious, but we spent our morning looking for another hotel. We just couldn’t stay there another night, it was too uncomfortable. Because we prepaid (Expedia), we couldn’t get a refund for the lost night, despite all the complaints.?…""Our party of 6 arrived late after a long day of hiking, zip lining and bumpy roads at Monteverde.
