"Nice to have large room, nice furnishings. Window A/C has more noise. Glad to not have traffic nearby, peaceful grassy view on back side. No fun to have sausage biscuit in wrapper instead of the expected hot eggs/bacon/sausage on the first day, but it was back after that day. Nice dining area, 2 choices with most items for breakfast. Elevator was creepy with the shuddering and noise as it came to a stop. Shampoo squirt container in shower was empty (found out after already in shower). Taller fridge than I usually see in hotels (no freezer). Loved having four lamps in the room - and they all had “real” light, and not just a 15watt bulb like most! Room was updated and comfortable. Bathroom had roomy countertop. Responsive front desk personnel. Great central location! Will stay there when I come to Southport again!"

"We enjoyed our stay the the Hotel Ballast Wilmington. We were in town for a One Tree Hill convention and this was the most convenient hotel we could have chose. The first day was a little hectic. I checked- in through the app, and my key was still not ready when we arrived. When we got to the hotel, I waited in a long line while ONE poor girl ran the front desk. Where was her help when all these people were checking in? We also didn't have room service for one day, but other than that great hospitality. We were able to walk to the convention center on the riverwalk. Super close to restaurants too. Our room we selected was the river view and it was gorgeous! There was some normal wear and tear in the hotel, a few things that could be updated. Our toilet roll dispenser was falling off the wall, and the toilet ran randomly. We used the gym on site and were able to get a great workout in. We had dinner at Sugo Italian Steakhouse and it was so delicious!! I definitely will be staying here again."

"The lady that checked us in was absolutely precious. The rooms were quite nice, the bed very comfortable. I did not eat breakfast that morning and didn’t even look in there so I don’t know what it was like, but it was probably great too like everything else was."
