Tamarindo was a nice resort town beach. The water was nice and there are a lot of things to do. I was staying at Avellanas and was struck by how different they were. Stay at Tamarindo if you want to be in town and be able to go to a lot of restaurants and see lots of people. Stay in Avellanas or other nearby beaches if you want solitude

Be sure to eat at Walters Restaurant and buy souvenirs at Buena Nena! Also, book all your excursions with James, this guys from the beach who sells excursions for a reasonable price!!
