    Lovely & Secluded-Rustic Retreat in Nature-Carp Fishing-Log Fire-Exmoor 7m

The Owlet is the perfect place to unplug, unwind & relax! It's a rural retreat totally hidden away in a beautifully quiet spot. You can switch off, enjoy a glass of wine & indulge in some star gazing. You'll be surrounded by wildlife so it's ideal for families and couples who appreciate the magic of nature & want to get away from it all! The Owlet is a cosy & welcoming old school static caravan with lots of personality & is a great adventure for those looking to get back get basics and discover their inner Bear Grylls.

Here at Bellbrook Farm we're creating a wildlife reserve which is a great location for spotting native wildlife including herons, kingfishers and kestrels as well deer and an abundance of dragonflies and damsels in the summer. The farm is quiet and relaxing, with a slow pace, and this is what makes it such a restful place to stay. We politely ask that guests with children respect this (no running around, shouting, ball games etc).

The Owlet is simple and sustainable as well as being bright and welcoming. There is a galley kitchen with a full sized oven and gas hob and an under counter fridge with ice box. It's perfect for cooking simple meals or enjoy cooking on the bbq which overlooks one of our beautiful lakes.

The cosy living area has plenty of seating in front of the fire and a Smart TV (as there is no aerial Freeview is not available but you can log in to Prime, Netflix, iplayer etc using your own details). The WiFi uses a mobile signal; however our rural location means this signal is not 100% guaranteed and is not the speediest. If high speed internet and TV are essential we'd wouldn't recommend staying here.

The main bedroom is newly decorated and has a small double bed. The second bedroom is smaller and has twin beds and a single wardrobe. We would suggest that this room is only suitable for children as the beds are 2ft wide. However we can make this into a small double for stays over 4 nights.

The bathroom has a shower, a 'hip size' bath and sink - all on our own spring fed water. As the water is gravity fed it won't get to the same pressure or temperature you have at home but it gets you clean! We're a sustainable holiday destination so we provide you with eco friendly toiletries and 'Who gives a Crap' toilet roll.

The wood burner is the only source of heating so in the colder months it can be a bit chilly in the mornings so we recommend fluffy socks and onesies! However it's in a beautiful spot and great for those who like peace, privacy and a bit of an adventure. We like to be honest so if you're looking for five star luxury and long hot showers it's not the place for you.

We hope The Owlet provides a place for guests to truly unwind, indulge in some Green Time and reconnect with each other and nature. It's a great place to come and just be, enjoy painting or go walking on nearby Exmoor and indulge in long pub lunches. To help guests get in the mindfulness groove we provide board games, jigsaw puzzles and bug hunting kits for the children.

Please note that access to this hidden gem is via single track country lanes and a stone farm track and is only suitable for cars (no vans or campers). Fishing is not included in the price. Details about our carp lake can be found at Bellbrook Carp Lake.

For days out there is plenty to do within 30 minutes drive such as two National Trust properties, Haddon Hill, Devon Railway Centre, Bickleigh Mill, Quince Honey Farm, Exmoor Pony Centre (combine this with a visit to Dulverton for cream tea), Wimbleball Lake and Tiverton has a canal with a cafe, horse drawn barge, a museum and castle. There is also an excellent riding stables that takes riders across Exmoor.

The lakes are unsuitable for swimming in or paddle boarding etc.

There is a maximum of 4 guests and one car to The Owlet at any time.

We welcome any questions and will always give an honest answer as we want you to have a 5* stay with us!

    Amazing location
We have just returned from a 3 night stay at The Owlet. The location was amazing, so tranquil and set in such beautiful surroundings. Our hosts respected our privacy, but we knew we could easily contact them if needed. Loved the welcome pack, the apple juice was delicious. The caravan was spotless inside and everything was provided to make our stay comfortable. Our only negative was that the caravan being single glazed was very, very chilly in the morning and overnight. An alternative form of heating when the log burner wasn’t in use would have helped. Apart from this, we had a lovely time and spent a lot of time on the deck just soaking in the ambiance and listening to the birds. It was amusing to see a fox strutting up the lane. Wonderful day spent at Tarr Steps, well worth a visit.

    Idyllic location.
Everything was perfect from start to finish except the weather which no-one can control. The entrance could be a little kinder to vehicle suspension, other than that we loved it and will definitely look to visit again.

Lovely static caravan with wood burner which was needed, as it was very cold at night. Ellen is a lovely host, there if we needed anything. The scenery was stunning.

A wonderful break so thoughtfully crafted
Zero complaints. What a beautiful area and an amazing retreat from city life. The owners are wonderful and made sure all our needs were met. The caravan was so clean and well stocked with all the essentials to stay. You could see genuine thought had been put into the holiday home. The log burner was the iceing on the cake. It made it so cosy. I’ll admit that it may not be everyone’s cup of tea to holiday during the winter, but for us, it was so cosy, quiet and relaxing. The lakes, streams, woodlands etc were an amazing experience for our Frenchies and being nosey it appears the other holiday homes are incredible. We will definitely be back to stay again and will try that gorgeous lake cabin next time. Thank you Ellen and Chris for making such a special place available for people to enjoy.

    Perfect retreat
Perfect hideaway for a couple. It was exactly what we needed beautiful secluded valley. We could hear no noise other than the wildlife & it was Perfect. Well stocked caravan, easy to reach owners when needed. Heated blanket & log burner were a god send, the nights got chilly. Only minor issue was they no longer allow fishing.
