I will start with the friendliness of the staff. Also, the bed and pillows were very comfortable. They get 5 stars for that. But the hotel is a case of "You get what you pay for." The hallways had a decades old smell of stale cigarette smoke, and the room had the uriney smell of a subway. Had to ask for bath towels, and they were extremely skimpy. There was no exhaust in the bathroom, so humidity was an issue (everything felt damp). There were no USB ports and had to unplug a light to plug in a phone next to the bed. The TV did not have a remote, so had to get out of bed to turn it off (a minor inconvenience). But we were looking for something walking distance to the Iowa Irish Fest, and this fit the bill. We weren't expecting much, and it kind of met our expectations.
