"Fantastic breakfast, pool and spa facilities amazing. Restaurant compared to hotel I would have expected more, food was very average but the breakfast they serve is wonderful so doesn’t quite make sense. Rooms are wonderful and everything you need and spa bath is so relaxing. My 4th visit to hotel so always love it but Restaurant needs work."

"My first stay at Rothay Garth and the friendly staff - Joanna - made the experience more delightful. Finding the location via car GPS was intriguing. It said the location was on the left when the actual address is on the right side a little further down from the GPS indication. After making couple of rounds we found it and glad there was parking was available. Overall, Ambleside is a perfect location as a base to visit the lakes district and Rothay Garth was an excellent choice."

"Beautiful location with large rooms looking over Grassmere lake. The decor is clean fresh with great choice of colours. Super king bed was very comfortable and room temperature perfect. The artwork on all the walls is enjoyable and like being in a private gallery. Staff were all very informative and friendly, Ronny in the restaurant was particularly great. The food choice for breakfast is plentiful and although dinner menu small the food is beautifully prepared and presented. My only personal comment is that it would have been nice to have included a side of vegetables in the price rather than as an extra. Housekeeping spot on. The spa is spacious with thermal pool ( not really for swimming) sauna and steam room . Lovely after a day of activities. The grounds are well maintained and terrace provides a sunny location to relax and enjoy the views, or if feeling active you can access the lake for a cold water dip or launch your kayak ."

"Fantastic location, great hotel and the staff were absolutely fantastic (particularly Alex and Susan), super friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet was tasty with your choice of hot food made to order. I will definitely be staying again in future."

"Our room was very good, clean and comfortable, with a nice bathroom. As advertised, it was room only with no other on site services. The reception desk was virtual, so interaction with staff was minimal. To describe the down stairs area as a kitchen and lounge area was overstated to say the least. A fridge and two microwave’s do not make a kitchen. To be fair, aside from the bedrooms, the place appears to be a work in progress, and may improve with time. On site parking was available and we had no trouble getting a space and if full there is a public car park next door. If all you want is a comfortable room with parking, this place does the job, very adequately. There are plenty of places nearby for a good quality breakfast and great dining in the evening. We would definitely stay there again."
