After you've been to all of the interesting sights in Zona 10, there's a lot more to see in the surrounding area. Collect the keys to a rental car, stow your bags in the trunk and get out there. Here are some drives we think you'll enjoy:

• Head to Quetzaltenango for an excellent sightseeing adventure. Around 70 miles from Zona 10, it's home to lots of great attractions like Quetzaltenango Central Park.
• About 50 miles away, Santiago Atitlan is also a favorite with wanderers. Make sure you get to Atitlan Volcano while you're in town. It's one of the reasons people love this city.
• Rio Dulce is 130 miles from Zona 10 and is one of the region's most scenic nature spots. Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy the fresh air here.

If you don't possess a driver's license issued in Guatemala, then you might need to apply for an International Driving Permit (IDP) in your place of residence in order to rent a car. You should also note that if an IDP is required, it has no validity on its own. You'll need to show your current driver's license your passport and other forms of identification as well. Lastly, it's important that the credit card you used to book the rental matches the name on your license and passport. Some other requirements to rent a car internationally are:

• Age restrictions: You'll need to be 25 or over in most countries to rent a car. If you're younger than that, it may still be possible to rent a car but you'll have to pay a Young Driver's Surcharge. Additional restrictions may also apply to the types of vehicles you can rent.
