Although there are no staff of duty the instructions on how to get the key were timely and detailed and we had no problems at all getting in and checking out, and we arrived late. "This is a tale of two halves… We had booked for a deluxe family suite, that had been modernised and had two separate rooms. Unfortunately we arrived to find that our room was unavailable, due to a leak (awful Scottish weather) and they offered us either a deluxe family room (two doubles) or two adjoining rooms in the dated part of the hotel (the forest wing), which we opted for. Although it hadn’t seen a lick of paint or new furniture in decades, it was exceptionally clean and had everything we required. The rest of the hotel had lots a modernising throughout and was staffed with a team that genuinely cared about their customers experience and getting it right for them. The food within the restaurant (we dined on a Sunday evening), was both delicious and of a high quality. We made use of the pool whilst there also, which was heated, followed by games provided in the games room and a game of pool (no additional cost."

"My friend and I spent Wednesday night there, and received a VERY friendly welcome from a nice lady at the reception desk. Unfortunately, there are no lifts and the stairs are rather steep and spiral too, which as two elderly men with walking sticks we found quite hazardous with our luggage. When we got to our room, which was on the first floor, the light in the shower room and loo was broken, resulting in complete darkness with the door shut. I went back and spoke to the lady who had welcomed us and her surprise at the light not working seemed 100% genuine and she apologised profusely and said she would "get it fixed". Then she very quickly and efficiently got us moved to another room, also on the first floor, which was absolutely perfect. I would recommend this hotel for its cleanliness and friendliness but disabled people need to be aware of the stairs."
