Enjoy an evening of comedic, dramatic and musical entertainment at this grand theater. Delve into its history on a guided tour, including behind-the-scenes details.

The best of Broadway and Las Vegas comes to St. Louis at The Fabulous Fox Theatre. The luxurious theater has been an integral part of the city’s performing arts scene since 1929. Founded by motion picture executive William Fox, it started as a stage for screenings of Fox Film Corporation releases and variety shows. Visit The Fabulous Fox Theatre today for hit musicals, plays and concerts.

Enter the theater and gaze in awe at the ostentatious lobby designed in the Siamese Byzantine style. Majestic columns topped by ornate capitals flank the hall and are reminiscent of rock-hewn Buddhist monasteries. The main auditorium has a 4,500-person capacity with velvet seats. Look up to see the crowning decoration, a huge bejeweled chandelier. Babylonian, Egyptian, Moorish and Indian ornamentations line the walls.

Shows to suit most tastes and ages run throughout the year. Purchase tickets for Broadway classics, such as Hairspray, and stage adaptations of Disney and Hollywood blockbusters. Sing along to the hits of Donna Summer, The Temptations and other big-name music acts, from Jeff Beck to Beck.

The Fabulous Fox Theatre Tour is another great way to experience the majesty of the palace-like theater. Hear stories about its history, stand on the stage, study the auditorium’s elaborate decor and see the Wurlitzer organ in play. Don’t miss Peacock Alley, a fourth-floor exhibit with displays sampling over 1,500 shows that have taken place here since 1982. There’s also a tribute to Stan Kann, the theater’s organist for 22 years and an eccentric vacuum cleaner collector.

Find the venue in the Grand Center Arts District of St. Louis. Public buses depart from downtown St. Louis and stop a short walk from the theater. If you drive, use one of several metered car parks in the area. The Sun Theater and The Sheldon Concert Hall are among the more than 20 spots to visit in Grand Center.

Visit the official website of the The Fabulous Fox Theatre to see an up-to-date schedule of events. Purchase tickets via the website or in person at the box office.
