The only reason that I gave this hotel 4 stars instead of 5 is because of our check in experience. We traveled by plane and arrived to the hotel 3 hours before check in time. I asked if it was possible to get an early check in if our room was ready. We were told we could if our room was ready for us. The room was ready, but then she broke the news to us that it’s a hotel policy that we pay $50 for an early check in. I think it’s ridiculous when we are already paying a lot of money to stay at the hotel (we were staying for 3 nights, not just 1). I’ve never had to pay an extra fee for early check in, ever, and we have stayed in a lot of hotels over the past year. The fee is completely unnecessary and it was always in the back of our mind while we stayed there. It seemed like a big old scam that we were being charged extra.
The positives - The hotel is in a great location and there are a lot of things within walking distance. The rooms are retro and really cute. The beds were comfortable. We got room service one night and it was really good. Having the outdoor pool at the hotel was wonderful.
