The Gateway

Our stay was great. The workers were awesome at the time of check-in. Very nice had smiles on their faces and acknowledged me instantly. They have remodeled since I was here last about a year ago, and it's beautiful. The rooms are beautiful as well. It was quiet, we had NO interruptions, our stay was just perfect. Will most DEFINITELY return soon for another quiet getaway together!!

Traveling through… looked online for an inexpensive room for the night. At 52$ total I’m both pleased and impressed. Nice comfortable room. Bed is ok. Clean and warm when I walked in at 8pm. Very quiet heater/air… I’d stay again or even inquire about a weekly rate if I was planning to be here.

Old needs updating

the property was run down and old. the room was clean but the door to the room was broken and would not lock from the outside. The staff was nice but only told us of one place to eat which was extremally expensive.

I read the other reviews before my stay and was concerned that it would be awful, but when I arrived I was pleasantly surprised. I personally feel like the other reviews were a lil harsh. I mean, what do you expect from the cheapest hotel in Monterey. The room was not in the best condition but there were more amenities than I was expecting! A fridge, microwave, hair dryer, ironing board, iron. The sheets were clean and the bed was comfy. I was content with my stay.

The front desk staff was so very helpful and friendly! They take a picture of your credit card and Id and keep it. I asked if they shred it after check out but got no response. The room was not very clean ( walls, mold behind toilet, bathroom vent hanging down, front door needed to be wiped, food on floor) We kept out shoes on. And kept our bags up. It’s very loud being as the floors and walls are not very sound proof. For a quick overnight it did the job.

This is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Bathroom, towels, sheets all stained. If i wasn’t so tired i would have left. This hotel needs a visit from the health dept.
