Mt Whitney Motel

Mt Whitney Motel

8/10 Good
"Stayed 2 nights for Mt. Whitney Summit (and stayed in the past as well when in area). Overall good place as a base camp for mountains in the area. Basic amenities, hot shower and receptionist was welcoming. AC ran well during 100+ degree weather for those 2 days. Would stay again!"

Nestled in nature with views of the Alabama Hills, Sierras and Inyo Mountains

10/10 Excellent
"We stayed at Reo's Ranch in Lone Pine for our Mt. Whitney hike (Aug 6–9) with a group of 8, and it was hands-down one of the best stays we've had. The house is spotless, spacious, and comfortable — plenty of room for our whole group without feeling cramped. The living room gave us a great space to relax and regroup after the hike, and kitchen utensils made cooking for the group a breeze. Beds had clean, fresh sheets and towels waiting for us, and the AC kept the place cool and comfortable even after long, hot days on the trail. Location-wise, it's incredibly convenient — easy access to both Whitney Portal and Lone Pine town. The front yard is spacious enough to park several cars, which was a huge plus for a group our size. And of course, the views are unbelievable — you couldn't ask for a better backdrop before or after a big hike. On top of all that, the owners were wonderful — great communicators and genuinely caring hosts who made the whole stay easy and stress-free. Highly recommend for anyone tackling Mt. Whitney or just visiting Lone Pine!"

"An amazing experience from start to finish. The location in the Alabama Hills of Lone Pine was absolutely perfect for us during Badwater 135 race week—peaceful and beautiful, with Mount Whitney in the background, yet only a short distance from town. Our host was incredible—friendly, accommodating, and genuinely available 24/7 if we needed anything. With temperatures over 100 degrees, the AC worked perfectly and kept the house cool and comfortable. The kitchen was spacious, spotless, and had everything we needed for race preparation and meals. The entire property was exceptionally clean, comfortable, and well maintained. We couldn’t have asked for a better home base for such an important week. Highly recommend, and we would absolutely stay here again!"

"This property is truly special. I’ve never been able to relax the way I did while at Lone East. Lydia, the owner/host, was just amazing and so welcoming. My only regret is that we didn’t have time to share a glass of wine and get to know her better. Thank you for a very special few days."
