Secluded near the end of a wooded lane, this property provides a wonderful holiday get-away for small or large groups.
Relax in the hot tub and enjoy the view of passing whales and dolphins, cruise ships and ferries.

With a large veranda-like living area offering south western exposure, light warms the natural wood finish. Bamboo furniture and built in bench seats offer a unique flair. French doors open from the living room to the surrounding deck.
For chillier evenings, an airtight wood burning stove adds warmth. The corridor kitchen makes cooking a breeze. Three bedrooms and Two bathrooms provide ample accommodation for larger groups.

Year-round, you'll enjoy the view of the mountains of Vancouver Island, fantastic sunsets, and the twinkling lights of Campbell River. You gaze upon the main marine channel for the west coast, watching freighters, fish boats, ferries and other working vessels that regularly travel the waters of Discover Passage.
Or join the deer and wander the trails throughout the area.

Cozy cottage, amazing view
We enjoyed our stay thoroughly! The house was spotlessly clean, Eric went the house before we got there turned on the heat so it was warm and cozy on our arrival. Checked in to make sure we had arrived safely and liked the place. The house had everything we needed and everything was in working order. The bed was so comfy. A suggestion for future guests, bring a pair of binoculars as the little island directly across from the deck has an active eagles nest, seals in the waters surrounding and if you’re lucky like we were, porpoises. Watching the seagulls play in the tides of discovery passage and watching the birds and eagles catch fish was amazing. This property is peaceful and serene. We visited on shoulder season so not a lot of restaurants open, but we had anticipated that and brought groceries and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook with. We were a little disappointed that there was no hot tub, but we wrapped ourselves in a blanket and watched the evening sunset from the deck. Grocery store is a 5 minute drive, wonderful hiking trails and lakes for kayaking are only a little ways away. We brought our own kayaks. We will definitely come back to this little oasis, it was good for souls to be there. Thank you Eric!

Location incomparable. Views are astounding
7 nights, plus 1 additional night stay. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and will remember our time here for long into the future. Note: The photos displayed are not of the property where we stayed. The listings photos are of a different building less than 75 meters away, therefore the views and accessibility of each site are nearly identical. The differences between the photos and our reality were substantial. We were told by Eric, long before our arrival, that Otter View Cottage was not available for our stay because of a VIRBO error. The circumstance for this substitution has still not been clearly explained. We had originally reserved the Otter View cottage about two months earlier, however we were informed that we would be staying in a different cottage, Island View cottage. Although it was fine, we had wanted the reserved home as per the listing and expected that the Island View Cottage to be more similar than it is. The I.V. house was tidy but appeared unused for a period of time before our arrival. It needed airing out which was easy to do because of the excellent weather and large window openings. More window screens would be a good thing. Island View cottage is needing some building maintenance, a microwave and would benefit from some lounge style deck furniture. The beds were comfortable and the laundered items freshly washed. The BBQ is new or nearly new. There was lots of kitchenware, plates, drinking glasses etc. The laundry machines were pretty quiet too. Large bottles of drinking water were supplied by Eric and his staff. The plumbed water was free of odours and clear. In our departing conversations with Eric we came to understand his dedication and pride he has in his home(s). He generously offered that we stay an extra night without extra cost because excessive ferry traffic causing long delays on our scheduled departure day. We accepted and enjoyed an additional and unexpected day of adventuring. Be sure to attend any community or market events available and set aside time to explore Cortes Island if you can. The residents of Quadra Island are genuinely friendly and proud of their community.

Just incredible
My parents and I had THE MOST AMAZING stay! Eagles and seals playing out front in the sparkling water. The house is so comfortable and spacious, you feel at home. It’s also nice and quiet, so we slept very soundly. It is just a treat to sit on the deck and watch the activities on the water, it made it hard to leave the house and explore the island. I already am thinking about when I can come back!

Beautiful deck view, quiet location, spacious dated house
Good host, good communication, beautiful West Coast view (sea lions, otters, eagles, orcas). Lacks comfortable patio furniture to enjoy it. Needs to update advertisement re hot tub and drinking water (not deal breaker, we’re supplied with bottled water. Bring your own paddle board or kayak.

Amazing sunsets!!
Eric is a lovely host and his place is exactly as described (minus the hot tub but that’s not why we were there). The place is fully stocked and there wasn’t anything more we required. Quiet, peaceful location with the most amazing sunsets. The deck is fully enclosed which is great for kids/dogs. We’ll definitely be back!

Gorgeous View! Wonderful Host
Beautiful Place! Quick drive to the Ferry & very friendly host. Checking in was super easy. Eric met us at the grocery store near the ferry terminal (with his 2 beautiful labs) & showed us the way. It's about a 6 min drive & not hard to find. Roads get narrow though so you have to drive slowly. The view is amazing & the Cabin had everything we needed. We saw all sorts of wildlife, including orcas (twice) Wifi & internet connection was great. Eric was easy to get a hold of & very accommodating with any concerns/requests. He even had a gate made for the deck to accommodate our dog. (without us even asking, & was very appreciated) One day he brought us daffodils from his yard, which was so sweet. He was always a pleasure to deal with. Its not recommended to drink the tap water, but Eric Provided the 1st 2 jugs. We were there for a month so we refilled them ourselves at the grocery store. We were there during the off season (Spring) & the yard looked like it was in the process of being cleaned up for the summer, so there was a some untidiness but nothing that impeded on our experience. The dock & the ramp down need a little work & are quite slippery when wet. So would recommend caution when using. However, it was a great feature of the place & we used it to be picked up at when we went salmon fishing (Which Eric helped set up for us & Mark was a wonderful guide) and we chilled out on it a few times too. It was too cold for a swim while we were there. & the tide moves very quickly, like a little river in that spot. But you could us a SUP there if you wanted. The little island close by would be fun to check out. when the tide is slack you could probably swim around too. no ladder on the dock & no beach so just be careful. There are always seals, otters & eagles in the area, plus sea lions pass by often. The neighbors are really nice, & the Petersons' own a few other properties that they rent out along the same driveway. So you are not isolated, but still have tons of privacy & nature. Limited parking, but we managed to fit a truck & small SUV. April Point resort is close by. It was closed during our stay, but made for a really nice place to go for a walk & beachcomb. Be respectful & clean up after yourself (Dog/Kids). They are keeping tabs on the place & are very friendly & accommodating as long as you are respectful. Quadra Island is a beautiful place, with tons of hiking, places to eat, history, nature & friendly people. You wont want to leave.

The house was not too easy to find even using gps to navigate . Host did not meet us . Locked out when we found it. Had to climb up on deck and go in that way. Very rainy and cold when we arrived. House was very cold when we got in. Had to figure out where thermostat was. Hot tub luke warm. The house was clean quite dated though. BBQ didnt work or dishwasher. The host did phone us back next day and sent somebody to fix hot tub. one set of keys to the door didnt work, so we were locked out again. So another climb up onto deck. more positive notes- lovely view from deck, very quiet and clean

Disappointing experience
I booked this property to spend my birthday here and it was a very disappointing and expensive experience. The hosts confused our check in date. The hot tub that I had specifically enquired about, did not work the entire 4 days of our stay. The host also only communicated through phone calls, which he wouldn’t always answer the phone or check voicemails until the following day. When I enquired about a refund for these inconveniences, as it was an expensive stay, VRBO stated that “we are an online marketplace that brings hosts and guests together. We are not involved in the rental transaction or the management of a property, and we are not able to mediate disputes between owners and travelers.” I haven’t heard from the hosts either….Ultimately, the fact that no one has taken accountability for any of these issues, is disgusting. I have stayed in many rental properties around the world and this has been the worst.

When our ferry arrived Eric was waiting for us at the top of hill; he was convivial and led us to his beautiful spot at April Point. The view was astounding. Great place to get away as it was very quiet and private. Spent countless hours watching the seals and listening to the plaintive cries of the soaring seabirds. Erik was a delightful host who called a couple times to check on us, provided local info and was very accommodating when we needed help. Totally recommend!

Great Stay!
We thouroughly enjoyed out visit to Quadra Island. The house, albeit a bit outdated, was clean and functional. The views from the stunning deck far exceeded our expectations. Beds were clean and comfortable. The pictures posted honestly do not do this place justice. Right down the road was April Point resort where we went and watched the sea places land and take off. A little further down the road was a lovely little marina hosting a number of different boats to admire. One reccomendation I would have is too have a little 'guide to the Island' or 'things to see on the Island' in the property because for first timers it would be helpful. Eric was fantastic, quick to respond and easy to get a hold of. We really enjoyed out family getaway.

Wonderful getaway!!
This is a beautiful property with the most amazing view. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are already planning our next trip to April point! The house was equipped with everything we needed and more, especially the kitchen. Eric was the most accommodating host - checking in on us and giving us amazing recommendations. The property is very private and easy to get to. We loved being able to have our dog there as there is so much to do on Quadra island. Would absolutely recommend this property!

Great place to stay in Quadra
We had a very fun and comfortable weekend at Eric's cabin. The location is quite private, quiet and beautiful. The most amazing quality is the expansive, wraparound deck, overlooking the water, with gorgeous views. It was fun to watch the seals and eagles and I'm sure there are other forms of wildlife to be seen at different times of the year. The cabin is large, clean and well-stocked with more than the basics needed when self-catering. Eric was an excellent host, meeting us at the ferry, checking in and even mailing an item that our grandson forgot. Highly recommend this place.
