The river is over 500m away beyond old and new field boundaries and the line of the Stover Canal/disused railway/Templer Way. Out of sight beyond the river is an old claypit on the Broadway site behind which passing sunshine lights a hill of clay waste in the course of construction in SX8673 (as far as I can judge). The shaping is more sensitive than that of the older mounds at Newbridge and Preston but it is an intrusion nonetheless, overbearing in the vicinities of New Cross (right of centre) and 'Key Transport Pond'.

Field beside Greycoat Lane This may look absurdly lopsided but the twin chimneys of Cremtor on the right are vertical. Beyond the field are hills at Highweek - the right-hand one is Daracombe Beacon.
Work in progress by Greycoat Lane Looks like a water point for livestock. Beyond the sheep is a high mound of old clay waste from the Stover Quarry, clothed with gorse and grass. A pile of fresh, light-coloured clay waste appears beyond it, with woodlands and exotic conifers around Stover School showing beyond that.

We have stayed at Woodbury numerous times, at reduced rates it is value for money, but disappointment this time we arrived before nine pm and was advised there was no room service as the kitchen was closing

Ilsington: St Michael's Church There has been a church on this site since the 11th century although the present cruciform building dates from the early 14th century with 15th century additions. In terms of area the parish is one of the largest in Devon. John Ford, the dramatist who wrote the controversial tragedy "'Tis Pity She's a Whore", was born in nearby Bagtor House and baptized in the church on 12 or 17 April 1586.
