Visit the Turtle Bay Exploration Park, an extensive open-air complex with botanical gardens and a forestry and wildlife center. The park, which was inaugurated in 1997, opens daily in summer. Note that during the winter the park is open Wednesday through Sunday from morning until late afternoon.

Turtle Bay Exploration Park is on the southern and northern sides of the Sacramento River, in the northeastern outskirts of Redding. From the city center, walk northeast for less than half an hour to get here. Nearby sights include the Redding Civic Auditorium, Redding Memorial Park and the Aqua Golf Driving Range.
