“Pros: The building is unique and has historic charm which we enjoyed. The location was perfect for the reason of our stay. Cons: The walls were paper thin. I could hear every single word of the neighbor next door. My husband had to knock on the door at a late hour for the neighbor to turn down the action movie that was being watched. I couldn't imagine if there was an event downstairs how loud it would have been. I could hear every person walking in the hallway. The floors, though rustic in……

“Staff was nice but when you have issuses with the clicker to the TV they will tell you to use the buttons on the TV. TV had a back sound like its about to die. Not all lights worked. Thank goodness for the sun. The windows had somethin on it so could not really see out. Cig buds next to end table not ours we so dont smoke. Allergies... main door looks like some one bashed it in with wood broken. Door does close an lock tho. No Springdale system just a smoke detector. Its ok for a night but……

“The hotel was undergoing a remodel, but was as clean as could be expected. Patty at the front desk was super nice and very helpful. Our room was clean, there was an abundance of hot water and water pressure, and above all, even though the hotel is adjacent to the Interstate, it was quiet! The breakfast selection was pretty much Continental...scrambled eggs, sausage patties, biscuits and gravy, various breads for toasting, an assortment of cereals (Hot and Cold), fresh fruit and juices, coffee,……

“I am from Madison and always look forward to staying with the Hillside and staff. Everyone is always very nice. Now the building is old so you have to accept some of the blemishes. My recommendation is stay in the winter when all the leaves have fallen and at night you can look down the street and watch the snow fall then go walking down main late at night it’s so peaceful and quite all you hear is the snow falling.”

“This hotel was great! The self check-in made getting to our room super easy. Our room was spacious and clean. Convenient location within walking distance to all the shops and restaurants on Main street. Not to mention the interesting history of the building itself. We loved it!”
