We felt spoiled, was away from the hussle and hurry of town, but still close enough to go do some of the adventures CDA has to offer.

The Luxury of Simply Being a Guest When exceptional hospitality becomes almost invisible I have spent more than two decades working in hospitality, restaurants, retail, and management. I've also spent approximately fifteen years staying at Hilton properties and more than thirty years experiencing hotels from the other side of the front desk. All of this has left me with an unfortunate occupational habit. I cannot simply walk into a hotel. I walk into an operation. I notice the staffing, coordination, communication, pacing, and countless small decisions that determine whether an establishment functions smoothly. I recognize when employees are well prepared, when someone is improvising around a broken process, and when a seemingly insignificant detail reveals a larger operational problem. I don't necessarily want to notice these things. But after enough years in the industry, the professional part of my brain rarely takes a vacation. Which is why my experience at this casino resort has been so remarkable. After more than a dozen visits, I realized something extraordinary. I had been enjoying myself without analyzing how the place was being run. For someone with my professional background, that is an accomplishment worthy of recognition. The service was so thoughtfully delivered that I was rarely conscious of the work required to deliver it. For once, I experienced the luxury of simply being a guest.
