"This was a beautiful property. Everything was clean, updated, and easy to find. The host left a very helpful instructional booklet describing how to use all of the amenities, and even instructions on how to best prepare the food. Overall it was a wonderful stay and we would love to stay here again!!"

"Very old traditional Ryokan. Beautiful garden/riverside views. We did not realize that there are no private baths - that was a big surprise but we were only there one night so it wasn't that problematic. Staff were very accommodating and Google Translate made communication very easy."

"Private rooftop onsen with modern ryokan-style room supported by AI-assisted controls for lights and air conditioner. Walkable to 7-Eleven nearby to buy drinks and snacks for onsen dipping. Conveniently located close to Hakone-Yumoto station to start the Hakone loop trip and/or return to Odawara station."
"We truly enjoyed our stay here. The service was top notch. Food was amazing and the in room onsen was amazing as well. Very private and quiet area. Walkable distance to the train station with lots of convenient stores around the area. "
"Gorgeous stay- the staff are wonderfully attentive, the facilities are gorgeous, and breakfast/dinner is massive and delicious. I stayed in a Japanese style room with a shared bathroom, which only really entails a shared shower facility (the rooms have a basin and toilet), which was extremely comfortable. The onsen facilities (three available) are available most of the day, and are privately booked in 40-minute increments, which as a solo traveler I found pleasant to have my own space. There is a short walk from the bus station to the hotel, somewhat uphill, so accessibility wise I recommend for people with a comfortable mobility as I do not believe there is an elevator. I was given a lovely yukata for the stay, which I really enjoyed. I got half board, which was beyond worth it- the quantities for both breakfast and dinner are *massive* and absolutely delicious. Overall, my stay at Yushintei was a highlight of my trip and I hope to return next time I am in Japan/Hakone."
"Staff was very good especially the room attendant. The food and food service was excellent. We really enjoyed soaking in the hot water. Good location made it easy to explore the area."
"The hospitality at Yusakaso was absolutely stellar. Extremely clean, gracious staff, delicious presentable breakfast and dinner served in-room. The Japanese-style bed was comfortable, and my room was spacious.
There is one outdoor mixed-gender onsen which becomes women-only from 20:00-21:00 (8-9pm) and two indoor onsens for women-only and two for men-only. Each day, guests can reserve the private onsen for 30 minutes. There are 3 hotel rooms with private open-air onsens.
Please note the hotel rooms without private onsens do not include showers, so you will need to shower in the shared gendered shower rooms. (You use these same showers before getting into the onsen.)
The hotel was easy to locate. It is a 16 minute walk up-hill from Hakone-Yumoto station. I would recommend bringing only light luggage if possible. There is a bus that takes passengers from the hotel to the train station at 9:40am for 200¥.
The hotel provides mosquito repellent machines, make sure you use them if you are susceptible. My first night I was bit all over my face and arms before learning about the machine.
Overall, I had the most wonderful and relaxing stay at Yusakaso. My experience was very needed after surviving the rush of Tokyo!"
