I wanted to find a relaxing and cool stay in the country to escape from the heat and humidity in July, and this cottage was PERFECT! Most of the day we sat on the porch and enjoyed the lush green scenery; at night, we enjoyed watching the sun set. The cottage is about 15 minutes from Waynesville where we went for dinner -- I wasn't familiar with Waynesville, but they have wonderful restaurants and a really nice Main Street area to browse. The cabin came with fresh eggs and blueberries, which were a nice surprise! The kitchen was well-equipped with everything we needed (coffee pot, toaster, microwave, fridge, etc.) and the bed was quite comfortable. Melanie checked in with us early and answered the one question I had very quickly. We're already wondering when we can book another visit! The small but perfect for 2 accomodations were tastefully decorated, well appointed, very clean and very private. Our only company were the horses grazing in the pasture next to us. My husband and I were scouting the area for property and liked the area of this vrbo the best! It was such a gem of a find, we highly recommend it. If you don't love the countryside you may enjoy it less, but for us it was ideal. Thank you Melanie and Chris, great job! Totally different than any other VRBO’s that we have stayed at. Sunset Cottage is charming, well appointed, and hosts Melanie and Chris have the cottage well-stocked with anything you could possibly need. The dividends that came along with staying at the cottage was such a pleasant surprise. There are horses in the pasture next door that would come and visit us and we got to see the prettiest chickens i’ve ever seen! We used the fire pit just about every night, we sat on the porch that has the most gorgeous view of the mountains and watched sunsets. If you really want to relax and get away from it all, this is the place! Our highlights of the trip were skiing at Maggie Valley and and mining for gems!
