Best on the Lake

This was the second time my 3 siblings and spouses have stayed here. It is perfect for a quiet and relaxing long weekend. Colleen is wonderful to work with and the house is VERY clean. It may be quiet but the house supplies lots of games and water access when summer time. I highly recommend staying in Secret Slough!

Great family trip

This was a great space for our family Christmas trip. The home was clean and well stocked and the owners were great to work with. We loved the outdoor space and took a few hikes down to the waterfront and the waterfall. We also enjoyed the large covered porch, and the hammock made a relaxing afternoon nap. Downtown Cullman was roughly 20 minutes away and we enjoyed visiting the Christmas market. On check out morning we had a great brunch at the marina restaurant which was about 10 minutes away.

Nice property

We enjoyed our stay. Kitchen had everything needed for meals. Plenty of beds and good room in living area. Nice decks with a beautiful view.

Worked well for a large group

We booked this place to have a family Thanksgiving week get together. We had 8 adults plus a small child. Everyone fit in comfortably. The setting is great, very nice view of the lake. If it had been in the summertime, we would have enjoyed using some of the water equipment supplied. Because it was Thanksgiving, we did a lot of cooking and the house came with just about everything needed to pull off a full blown Thanksgiving dinner for 10+ people. There's really not anything bad to say about this place. The stay was great, fully met expectations, and we'd recommend it for anyone wanting to stay in the area.

Enjoyed a Wonderful 4th of July Holiday Getaway

The accommodations were as described and in a great location. The owner answered our questions timely and was very helpful. I would say the deck and patio need attention to remove spider webs, but other than that everything was ready for our stay. The beds were very comfy, but one bedroom requires access to other bedrooms for bathroom access which you cannot tell from the pictures. This wasn’t an issue for us though as all who stayed were family members. We watched fireworks from the water on our boat and made great special memories!!

Secluded cabin on the Lake

We really enjoyed our Fall Break stay here! There were so many beds and bathrooms and an excellent kitchen, as well as a fantastic laundry room with washer & dryer. The decor was super cute Farmhouse style and the whole place was neat as can be. Relaxing on the screened-in porch was amazing after an afternoon of kayaking on the lake and exploring the little cove we were in. At night we had a nice campfire in the fire pit where the kids roasted marshmallows and ate s'mores! There were tons of little extras thrown in like nice fluffy towels, shampoo, conditioner and bodywash in all the showers, laundry and dishwasher soap-pods provided, and even a full icemaker and coffee pods in the kitchen with the coffee maker. There were lots of card and board games to play as well as outdoor ladderball, and we were able to log into Netflix & Amazon Prime to watch movies at night. The owners are so nice and there was great communication with them. The views were amazing and our family had such a nice relaxing time here! Will definitely stay again!

AMAZING LAKE HOUSE

Some friends of mine wanted to coordinate a stay on smith lake, and we stumbled upon this ABSOLUTE GEM of a property :D I booked the property asked questions and was surprised with how responsive the property person was! They answered all of my dumb questions (I am one of those people)... And once we got to the property it was even better than the pictures implied! The little cabin was adorable and clean, the linens were soft, the toilet paper was stocked. Everything was just as it aught to have been. THEN THE LAKE, oh my was it tranquil, peaceful, serene... you name it and it was apt for the water. We swam off the dock, paddle boarded, kayaked, light a fire in the fire pit, night swam, played some banjo (i came from alabama, how could I not have a banjo on my knee?) and the whole time it was just as quite as could be. Nothing but us, the sunshine, the moonshine (like full moon lighting the night, not the home made stuff) and the leaves softly blowing in the wind. 10/10 would recommend. 10/10 would do again. 10/10 perfect trip!

Great for the most part

The property is in a beautiful area away from things. It offered so many things for us to do. The kids LOVED the kayaks and lilypad. Kitchen is well stocked with things needed for cooking. The rooms were comfortable. The TVs are older and do not have many apps, which could be an issue for some. The wifi is hella spotty and in the evenings we just connected our hotspots. The biggest and only issue we had was the number of german cockroaches that were in the kitchen/dining/living area. I killed so many roaches. I did let the owners know and she did apologize and was having pest control come out after we left. Leaving wasn't really an option as we drove 5 hours. Just take heed when booking that this may still be a thing.

Perfect Way To Disconnect

Very comfortable arrangements. Driveway and turn around area at house is tight (do not try to bring a boat to the house—contact property owner about other boat parking options) but that also leads to a very quiet, secluded stay. One neighbor across the slough who is very kind. Owners have plenty of entertaining items for your use: lake toys, games, fire pit area with firewood, etc.Cell signal and internet are very spotty but that also allows you to disconnect and really enjoy the beautiful views and peaceful surrounding. We very much enjoyed our stay….only negative was internet going down which lead to no TV but that also lead to plenty of family game time—negative quickly became a positive!

GREAT LOCATION GREAT HOME AWAY FROM HOME

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ DEFINITELY 5 stars from us! The location was perfect, and house was a perfect fit for all of us. Beautiful view of the lake. The beds…. The beds are soooo comfy! Even the kids were saying how they slept better than they have in a while. We will definitely be planning another trip back to stay here again. The owner is very responsive and answers promptly.
