Longer hike to get out to the rock. Get there early to avoid the crowds. After you take your pictures on the rock bridge head up the narrow path up to the left where you will see a large boulder perched. More great views and a tree to climb.

The stop everyone has to make, but since everyone wants their picture with only themselves or friends on the rock, it could take an hour to get out on the rock once you get there - we didn't bother

Go early! We went around 8 - 9 and the crowds were starting to fill up but it was still manageable. We passed by there around 10 AM the previous day and there were lots of people - you'll stand in line waiting to take a photo for a while. Wear comfy shoes and take the trail from the Mescal parking (don;t try to shortcut the hike using the jeep road - it gets really dusty and jeeps regularly fly by.

Sedona has some of the best hiking and views you can find in all of the Southwest USA. But my favorite parts of Sedona are the little known secret places, that you can explore and experience without the crowds. This gem is one of those secret locations.

Sedona almost never gets snow, and when it does snow, it rarely sticks. So when a giant snow storm shut down the whole city last winter, we were dying to go out and get some epic snow pictures!

Locals refer to this spot as the Birthing Cave. It is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the more touristy parts of the city. It is a fairly easy hike to get here, but getting up into the cave is a whole other story! It requires a lot of scrambling, and some serious guts! But boy is the effort worth it!
