Earthquake House Tours

Arrived at hotel early evening. Had problems from beginning i.e. trying to log in to pay for parking, enquiries re breakfast. Staff do not know anything about parking, restaurant and leisure facilities as they are all owned separately. Have stayed here often over previous years but sadly it has gone downhill. However, the room was clean, bed and bedding was very comfortable and bathroom/shower came with soap and toiletry sachets. We didn't get breakfast as it didn't look worth paying £14. We won't be returning to what was once a wonderful hotel with great staff.

While I enjoyed the hotel, at times the rooms got warm as there was no air conditioning. I wouldn’t have had any issue with this if the provided fans were powerful enough to support cooling and air circulation. Meanwhile, the restaurant menu was limited and I found myself having the exact same options each day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Thankfully, the restaurant staff were generally helpful and friendly while the food was in fact delicious. I also paid for a later checkout time of 2 pm, but when I came out my room early at 1:45 pm I was unable to get back in. Thankfully, it was after I had offloaded all my bags, so I just opted to proceed with checkout. Don’t get me wrong, the hotel wasn’t bad and it’s not a place I would avoid. But the circumstances encountered means I am unable to rate any higher than an average stay.
