Watch football, soccer or an impressive live music performance at this large stadium located within walking distance of downtown Seattle.

When the Seattle Seahawks play a home game, Lumen Field fills with about 70,000 fans. Noise from supportive cheering in the stadium is so loud that the enthusiastic fans are often referred to as the “12th man” on the Seahawks roster, providing important inspiration. Visit the site for an exciting event or tour.

Seattle is a sport-loving town, with Sounders soccer and Mariners baseball in addition to Seahawks football. These teams and the former SuperSonics basketball team often played in the Kingdome, previously located on this site. See photos of the old covered stadium, which was demolished in 2000. The old stadium’s concrete was reprocessed, much of it used for the new field, which opened just 2 years later.

Today the field is used for Seahawks and Sounders home games as well as World Cup, collegiate and amateur soccer matches. Purchase tickets online well in advance. Attend a concert at WAMU, Washington Music Theater, adjacent to the stadium.

Tour Lumen Field when no events are underway to appreciate the impressive engineering and beautiful setting. Roof sections on both sides of the field cover much of the seating, leaving the field open to sunlight or rain. Recycling and grinding up 35,000 tennis shoes and 30,000 tires went into creating the FieldTurf playing surface. See numerous public art installations here, including Earth Dialogue by Bob Haozous, the tall north tower with four large symbolic discs. From viewing platforms around the stadium look out over the nearby baseball park, the downtown Seattle skyline, the Olympic Mountains and Mt. Rainier beyond the waters of Puget Sound.

Lumen Field is just 0.9 mile (1.5 kilometers) south of downtown Seattle. Get here on foot or by bus. Have a pregame meal at one of the many Italian or Asian restaurants or sports bars near the field or the more than 70 eating spots in the stadium. On-site parking is presold on a seasonal basis, but other nearby lots have daily availability and allow tailgating. The 1.5-hour tours are offered daily during the summer and on weekends in other seasons. Purchase tickets in advance.
