Wonderful experience! Lovely house with a backyard that our doggo enjoyed so much for sniffing and playing fetch. Was also the perfect spot to avoid 4th of July fireworks.

Great getaway

This our 2nd time staying here. Been visiting Idyllwild for many years. Nice quiet deck, large yard that our dogs love. Everything you need in the cabin if you like to cook like myself. And the bbq on the deck that we used nightly. We will be long term visitors, thank you so much Melissa for all you do. See you again soon!!

Awesome cozy property with a great yard for the dogs.

Had a great time enjoying the crisp mountain air and a nice fire in the evenings. Dogs loved the spacious back yard and definitely took advantage of it by running laps and chasing squirrels. Highly recommended for a cozy mountain getaway.

Great, relaxing getaway

Enjoyed a couple days in Idyllwild to unwind and relax with my wife and our dog. The huge yard was amazing, and our dog, Bailey, had a blast. Very convenient location, just minutes from the quaint shopping center and food options. Melissa was a great, communicative host. Thanks for the stay!

Little House Big Fun

This is our 3rd time staying at Little House… We love it there. The location is perfect for taking our dog Rudi for walks in the neighborhood. The house is cozy and comfortable with a wonderful back yard. Close to town center if you want to go out to eat or check out the cute shops… Melissa & Emma are wonderful and accommodating- it’s 4 paw approved by Rudi and 5 star approved by his people! Come stay at Little House!!

Lovely stay in a beautiful setting

The kids and our dog LOVED this yard. In fact, while we were there they never bothered coming inside. Me and husband enjoyed the patio and the BEAUTIFUL spring weather and the sounds of our kids happily playing and laughing and it was everything we needed.

Great little house.

The house was well stocked and clean, 2 important aspects of a rental for me. The huge fenced in yard and multiple decks were wonderful - great to follow the sun on a chilly day or shade on warmer days. Close to downtown and, better yet, a short ride from the house to all the mountain bike trails. We'll be back next winter.

Serene Mountain Escape

We had an unforgettable getaway in Idyllwild! This cabin was a hidden gem, perfect for our family of two adults and our furry companions. Melissa and Emma ensured the cozy cabin had everything we needed, and the amazing backyard was perfect for relaxing and letting our dogs play. The idyllic mountains and charming town of Idyllwild felt like a dream. The dog-friendly amenities made our stay even more enjoyable. Private and Peaceful

We we booked this home for a last minute anniversary getaway with our little dog. It was perfect! It is a lovely property, feels very removed and private but is so close to town. The home is beautiful and comfortable. We spent a lot to time out on the deck and in the very spacious back yard. Our little dog had the best time running around in the fully fenced yard. Overall just a wonderful peaceful place.

‘Little House’ Love

This is our second time at Little House and it was just as fabulous as our first stay. No detail is over looked and Melissa is such a wonderful host. We love the back yard and our pooch Rudi can’t get enough ‘ball time’ in before we have to leave. We’ve made this our new tradition and look forward to coming back soon!!

Serene Cabin w/Super Dog Backyard

Rented another place from Melissa previously, a definite plus, the location is excellent especially if you want a very quiet, peaceful and relaxing visit to Idyllwild. You don't have to worry about traffic walking your dog anytime of the day in that part of town. Our 20 month old puppy just loved zooming around in the backyard and we could put her out there without a worry. The WiFi worked just fine.

Storybook escape

Arriving from the winding roads of switchbacks, I was welcomed into a cozy yet spacious, very well appointed space. The backyard was littered with huge boulders, a treehouse perch offered beautiful views, and a hammock encouraged lazy laying. The bed nestled you beneath the stars visible from the skylight. The fridge came stacked with wine and beer so that even a late arriving guest could have a nightcap on the wide and comfortable porch. Melissa wa da helpful and delightful host. Will absolutely return again!

We'll always think of this property as "Star Gazer"

The Little House, Big Yard exceeded our expectations. It was evident that this house was a passion project for Melissa as every detail was intentional and well thought out - the management of the space, the decor, how well the house was stocked and especially Melissa's communication. We loved spending time having drinks/snacks on the front porch as the stars came out, laying on the back deck (totally private) for more star gazing and then sleeping under the stars via the skylight in the bedroom. Our 3yo granddaughter who visited for the day loved having the cute loft as her own quiet time space. The Little House, Big Yard definitely delivered!

Adorable cabin with great fenced yard!

My husband and I wanted a little weekend getaway with our dog and decided on Idyllwild. Its a quick 2 hour drive from San Diego and feels like a world away. The cabin is tucked in the mountain on a quiet street. It is a very small property but was perfect for our little family, I think it would be large enough for a family with 2 small children, but definitely not 4 adults. I was really impressed with the layout of the cabin and the furnishings are perfectly rustic without being kitschy, which was surprisingly refreshing for a home on a mountain (its nice not seeing everything made with knotty pine and a thousand bear figurines everywhere). The bed was comfortable and had such comfy sheets, even the couch was really nice to lounge on! Having the central air was a lifesaver, the few days we were there, the temperatures were in the high 80's and very dry, so it was nice to find relief inside the cool house. A major benefit for us was the large fenced in yard. Our dog LOVED exploring and roaming the backyard! We were able to relax in the back with a glass of wine and watch him run about without worrying about him wandering off. We also enjoyed the front deck and sat out on the rockers for a couple hours reading while waiting for the temperatures to cool down. We literally enjoyed every part of that house! Our stay was beyond amazing, Melissa does such a great job really making this house feel like a home and really open to it's visitors. Everything is top notch and furnished how you would want your personal home to be, cold beers in the fridge, coffee in the freezer, bottles of wine and liquors available for use (just be sure to re-stock!). Plus its a close 5 minute drive to town, we are DEFINITELY coming back, by far the best VRBO type stay we have had. Thanks Melissa!

Perfect Overnight Stay

Little House and its hosts were great! We stayed overnight to explore Idyllwild and were so happy about this cabin. The top nook is very cute and if we were kids, we would've loved sleeping up there. The bedroom was no less great, as it came with a bed warmer, fun light options, and a skylight. We stargazed from our bed! Backyard was fun to explore and reminded us of our childhood. Tried the bikes too but they do need some care. If we come back to Idyllwild, we're definitely checking this place out again!

Doggy vacation

We absolutely love your property!!! This was our 3 or 4th time staying at your lovely cozy home. Our dogs love the yard and I love the convenience of having my cup of coffee while the dogs do there morning thing. There is everything you need and far enough away from the city but only minutes drive. This is our go to everytime we visit!! See you in October. Thanks for everything!!!

LITTLE HOUSE IDYLLWILD

My wife and I along with our 2 small dogs had a short vacay in Idyllwild. The unit was immaculate and very dog friendly. It was conveniently located with a 5 to 10 minute drive to wherever we went. Nonetheless, the home was indeed “little” with extremely limited closet space and void of anything to hang clothes or store personal items. Moreover, we could not get the heat to function and it did cold at night. The electrical plug in the bathroom did not work as well. I did not contact the owner about these items because I felt they should have been resolved before our arrival. Overall, as always, we had an enjoyable time in the village. Highly recommend the Brew Pub, the Peak, and Gastrognome. Will definitely visit Idyllwild in the not too distant future, but pass on staying at the Little House again.

The Backyard is Beautiful

It’s very quaint is perfect for single travelers or a couple. The backyard is really big and it feels like you’re in the middle of the forest. The only drawback was the driveway is very steep, if you have a car it’s not car friendly. My car kept scrapping on the driveway going in and out.

Just GO there!!!

I didn’t even know where Idyllwild was. I took a leap of faith on a sabbatical, trying to escape the hot Texas weather and ended up here at Melissa‘s house. The road leading to the home is one of the most gorgeous I have ever driven. The surroundings are absolutely incredible and majestic. You can physically see the elevation change with the foliage and it is spectacular. I traveled with my two dogs and of importance to me was having a safe, large, secure yard, and this place was absolutely perfection for that. The house is as it is listed, but honestly, was better than I expected. Melissa has thought of every single thing you will need from top to bottom left to right. You will be in want of nothing. She is incredibly gracious, and very communicative and helpful. I felt so peaceful at this place. The nights were silent, the trees were magnificent, my dogs loved the house, I felt so at home. The town was incredibly sweet with lots to do. Lots of shopping, a movie, theater, grocery stores, gas stations, and incredibly nice people. I want to trade my Vrbo with hers in the future! Hoping she’ll take me up on it! Oh, if there’s any reason at all, you are questioning this house, or this place, don’t do it. Just go!
