Find the town on the southern shores of Lake Jindabyne, a vast reservoir fed by the Snowy River. Its original location now rests beneath the waters. Jindabyne moved to its current location in the 1960s following the construction of Jindabyne Dam. Eerie relics of the old town are visible when water levels are low. Get superb lake views at Banjo Paterson Park, Foreshore Park and Waste Point Lookout.

Perched on the eastern edge of the town is Kosciuszko National ParkOpens in a new window, the heart of the Snowy Mountains. Get brochures, maps and park passes at the Snowy Region Visitor Centre.

Year-round, take a scenic ride on the Kosciuszko Express Chairlift to the 7,310-foot (2,228-meter) tall Mount Kosciuszko. A hiking trail climbing to the mountain summit passes alpine meadows and striking rock formations. Watch young salmon and trout swarming the waters of the Gaden Trout Hatchery and step into the 440-million-year-old Yarrangobilly Caves.
