Fantastic staff, very convenient for the train station and trams. Hotel had a retro feel which I very much appreciated

We stayed here for one night whilst travelling through Basel. The hotel is easy to reach by tram, staff were friendly and the room was fine. Only problem was that the ‘room cooling system’ was actually just a fan, so we were very hot overnight. This is a basic hotel but has everything you need for a short stay. Breakfast was delicious.

A unique setting in a beautiful area. The hotel is located right next to the Rhine River in a scenic location where the river moves rapidly with a soothing sound. The view also includes a small island that is a pedestrian park. The surrounding historic center city is well preserved and gives you a real feeling for what the area looked like in the Middles Ages. Furnishings are dimple but comfortable. The hotel restaurant is good, but expensive, and there are many other dining choices nearby. The local thermal springs spa at Sole Uno is one of the best in Europe.

Beautiful hotel in a gorgeous location with exceptional staff. Not all of the windows have fly screens and there were numerous wasps and other flying insects outside. Because of this I did not feel comfortable to have the windows open, even during the recent heat wave. Appreciate that air conditioning units cannot be fitted due to the age and character of the building but fly screens should be achievable. There was a fan in the room and this helped for me but even so, my laptop got very hot and would not charge. Later when moved to a cool location, it was fine. I would love to visit again but probably not during a heat wave.
