We thought the owner very nice and extended herself to make sure everyone was comfortable. Everything was very clean and convenient. The only thing that impacted our stay was that the bed was not as soft as we needed.

This place has a nice view looking out on their mountain side. They also have two gas grills iwith bench table. I’m the same area they have a hot tub but that was not working at the time of our visit. Showers were small but useable

My stay here was great! Nicely situated just outside of town on the way to Mt Rushmore and the Black Hills area. My room was clean and quiet. Hot breakfast available every morning. I will definitely be back when I'm in the area.

Very thoughful staff
The hotel is very nice, small and perched on a hill right on the main road to mt. Rushmore. I was going to arrive very late, the manager called me to arrange for me to get my room key out of a key box. They were very thoughful.

To start, I had to call someone at 4:00 pm to check me in. I noticed that several signs indicated things like pet policy that is not on the website. The website needs to be updated with current information. When I got to my room, there was no deadbolt on the door and I could see daylight between the door and door frame. Didn't feel particularly comfortable or safe. I also requested no room service for my stay, but someone came in the second day and cleaned it anyway. Breakfast with the fried eggs on a plate under a piece of aluminum foil was not very appealing. The term lodge in the name is very misleading. Its just an old motel, not a lodge. I will not be staying here again as the price is way too high for the quality of the facility.

Very nice reasonably priced hotel.
Very nice, clean, reasonably priced hotel. The manager is very nice and helpful. The " continental" breakfast was more than expected...had boiled or fried eggs, waffles and all the other usual stuff The rooms are quiet and in quiet location with beautiful view of Rapid City skyline. Picnic tables and benches to sit outside. Fridge and microwave in room. No pool, restaurant or bar if you need those frills. I would stay again.

July stay at Big Sky Lodge
The room door did not close securely; you could see daylight between door and door frame. Did not feel particularly safe. For breakfast no water provided, no cooked oatmeal (only packets of instant oatmeal), pancakes and fried eggs were left to get cold, only cold cereal choices were Raisin Bran and Frosted Flakes. Daily fresh donuts were good. Entrance to office was unattractive with many sticky tape strips on office door. Owner/manager worked the front desk from 7am to 10pm 7 days a week. English was not her first language and limited understanding of Q&A. Giving us directions was inadequate. Using the term "Lodge" in the name of the place gave a false impression. It's an old motel with improvements to be made. Great location, however, for visiting national parks etc.
