The housekeeping service was not great. We were there 7 days and they came 3 of those days, two of which they only provided towels, and made the bed. Gave us no coffee (I had go request coffee every time) and they did not refill the body wash and hand soap so we had to buy it on our own. They did not clean the bathroom or vacuum, the entire stay. :( Not great.

Our stay at The Avery Hotel was truly one of the highlights of our trip to Boise. From the moment we arrived, we could feel the unique charm and history of this beautifully restored landmark. The hotel perfectly preserves its historic elegance while offering all the modern comforts you could ask for. The room was spotless, comfortable, and thoughtfully appointed, and the entire property had a warm, inviting atmosphere that made us feel right at home. The staff was exceptionally kind, welcoming, and attentive, providing outstanding hospitality throughout our stay. One of our favorite things was the hotel’s location. We enjoyed walking to nearby restaurants, coffee shops, and downtown attractions, making it easy to experience the best of Boise without needing to drive. If you’re looking for more than just a place to sleep, The Avery offers an experience. It’s a beautiful blend of history, character, comfort, and exceptional service. We left with wonderful memories and would gladly stay here again on our next visit to Boise. Highly recommended!

I travel constantly and rarely leave reviews…especially not 5 star reviews but this place was perfect! Loved my room, loved the location. It’s walking distance from live music, the best cider place I’ve ever been to (Meriwether), restaurants and shopping. The staff was kind and even the available drinks in the shop on site were great.

The good: the room was clean, sheets were clean and beds mostly comfortable but basic. The breakfast was hot and simple but fresh. The staff was friendly but they work on a skeleton crew, so I am sure it makes it difficult to keep up with everything that size facility needs. It’s super close to downtown and to the university, which is why I chose it. The bad: the hotel has seen better days. It needs a new facelift for sure. Although the bedroom was clean, it was just worn out! The hallway carpets are torn and taped up, doors are beat up and the key pad entry doesn’t work well (at least ours didn’t). The grout in the bathroom tiles needs new caulking. The AC knob in our room was broken, so I had to fiddle with it to get it to work, but once it was on it made a huge racket. The whole AC control system was extremely outdated. The office chair at our “desk” was torn and not tall enough for the desk. And all the other furniture was very worn and scuffed. The freezer in our mini fridge had not been defrosted and was just a huge lump of ice. The LED lights need to be toned down to warmer tones in the room. I cannot speak to the gym or the hot tub as we didn’t have time to use either one. I’ve stayed at Red Lion hotels before in not very good neighborhoods that were wonderful, clean, and well maintained. It was sad for me to walk into this one and wish I had chosen the motel 6 instead. I hope they can invest some money to upgrade this facility someday.

The room was big and all rooms hallways and elevators were clean. Breakfast was fine but could have used a slightly larger selection of menu items. The only issues were with the bathroom door did not slide shut without a sliver of visibility into the bathroom. Also the shower door did not have a complete seal or catch to keep the door flush with the other panel.
