Set in the stunning Finger Lakes Region, this thriving downtown has a fantastic arts and culture scene and ample green spaces.

Extremely walkable and easily navigated, Downtown Syracuse has several national historic districts, each with its own personality, heritage architecture, parks and sightseeing opportunities. Explore Armory Square, Columbus Circle, Hanover Square and South Salina Street to get a sense of the city’s history when you visit Downtown Syracuse.

Start with a walk or bike ride along the Onondaga Creekwalk, a 2.6-mile (4.2-kilometer) urban trail along its namesake creek. The Creekwalk connects Armory Square, home to several dining and shopping establishments, to Onondaga Lake. Notice the art installations, murals, sculptures and city landmarks along the way.

For more urban nature, check out the iconic fountains in Clinton Square and Hanover Square and the Symphoria sound stop at M. Lemp Park. In Armory Square Park you’ll find a replica of the NBA’s 24-second shot clock, invented and first used here.

Make your way to Downtown Syracuse’s many museums, including the Erie Canal Museum in a historic weighlock building, offering a great way to learn about the importance of the canal to the region. Explore more than 11,000 artworks, as well as one of the country’s largest ceramics collections, at Everson Museum of Art. At the Milton J. Rubenstein Museum of Science and Technology (MOST), learn a few things and check out the large planetarium.

Follow a museum tour with live music or a theatrical performance. The many restaurants, bars and theaters in Downtown Syracuse offer entertainment just about every night of the week. Try the Landmark Theatre, Redhouse Arts Center, Symphoria, Mulroy Civic Center or CNY Jazz Central.

If you prefer sports, watch a professional hockey game at the Oncenter War Memorial, home to the Syracuse Crunch American Hockey League team.

Travel to Downtown Syracuse in central New York state via bus, train, plane or car. Arrive at Syracuse Hancock International Airport. Once in the city, get around on foot, bike or city bus. Rent a bike from the Syracuse Sync bike-share program or drive and park on neighborhood streets or in easy-to-find parking lots.

Room smelled of deodorizer covering cigarette smoke in a non-smoking room. Horrible to smell. Staff was rude. They tripled the price for Syracuse University graduation. Noisy. Heard every person in the halllways. Even the quieter ones. Would not recommend.

The breakfast really was lacking--only various forms of sugar and white flour. However, the room was clean, comfortable. The bed was nice, and there were several places to sit.
