If you like to explore by bike then pedal the 24-mile (38-kilometer) long Aalbaek to Hulsig route and spot birds of prey.
Dedicate time to experience the charm of the city, where shops and restaurants occupy typical yellow-painted and red-roofed houses. Aalbaek Kirke is a pretty parish church that dates back to 1897. Spend a day with the family at Farm Fun, a wildlife park with activities such as animal feeding, children’s playgrounds and pony rides. Admire tall spruce and pine trees at the Aalbaek Klitplantage.
Just a 20-minute drive north of the city is Denmark’s northernmost settlement, Skagen. Come here to see work by the world-famous Skagen Painters at the Skagens Museum. Amble along Grenen, a natural sandbar at the meeting point of the North and Baltic seas.
