Not recommended that all

Posted Jun 22, 2014
Pros: Just location
Cons: Everything!!!Specifically the smell in the bathroom that spreads around the room.
Location: Not much but at least is in a convenient area, easy access
It was a really bad experience!!! Bathroom gross, beds were Ok, air condition not strong to refresh the room. We asked for refrigerator in advance for my medication and never put it in. Breakfast was like a jock. We would never come back that all. Don't even try.

The hotel was OK. Wifi in the lobby. Restaurant across the parkway. TV and air conditioner in the room. Staff was not very nice. My friends could't come up to my room unless I paid an extra charge. This is definitely not a hotel everyone dreams off. But, if it helps you save money, this is a reasonable option.

Hotel Stay

Posted May 15, 2014
Pros: The restaurant next to it had excellent food and good prices
Cons: Get the horrible smell out of the bathrooms
Location: The location was away from everything nothing close by other than a couple small restaurants and a store.
The staff was very nice however the bathrooms smelled like sewer and the beds were hard. I couldn't stay in the bathroom without covering my nose with a towel.

Calypso Hotel Cancun

Posted May 7, 2014
Staff tried to scam us as soon as we checked in. People ringing our room at crazy hours of the night for no reason then hanging up. People trying to open the shower window and playing knock and run on our doors. We had three of us staying and only received one key which made it difficult to get into the room. I will never stay therr again.

Pros: the price, clean, location from downtown cancun 15min w/ traffic 15 from coco bongo w/traffic..
Cons: elevators, there is only two, and only 4 people can get in at a time.
Location: right across the street is the casino, also the ferry that takes you to Isla mujeres its 20dollars roundtrip, and the cancun tower is also across.
stayed there 4 nights on the 2 nd night the shower head got broken as i was trying to adjust it, i told the from desk and they had it fixed within 15 min, besides that i didn't had any problems, did not get in the pool so i can't say anything about that. oh one more thing wifi is fast, but only when 5 or less people are at the Lobby using it, thats the only place where you can use wifi, out of the 4 night only one night there was like 10 people in the lobby using the wifi and it was really slow.

Short stay before going to resort.

Location: Family friendly. Awesome pools at the hotel and the beach is across the street. Church is down the street within walking distance.
The hotel was an exceptional choice for us. We needed to stay somewhere (not downtown) for three days before moving to an inclusive resort for seven days. We needed a hotel that was reasonable, but not a "flea bag" either. The Calypso was the ticket! The hotel is VERY affordable and clean. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were very quiet, as far as hearing your neighbors. However, you could hear a bug fly by from the hallway, but that's exactly what we experienced at the resort we went to also. The staff is very friendly and helpful, despite the fact that no one on staff spoke fluent English. The only draw back was the refurbishment that was underway. It caused a lot of dust and some paint fumes, but in reality, it didn't ruin our time spent at the Calypso and when we come back (which we will), we'll get to enjoy the enhanced environment. The ferry depot is literally across the street, as is the Playboy Casino. Shopping, either back toward town or toward hotel roe, is a 10 minute bus ride away which you can catch right outside the hotel every few minutes. The restaurant at the hotel is AWESOME. Hands down, this hotel is a gem and I hope they don't figure out that they could charge more. It made our vacation a success from the beginning.

Good choice for an economy hotel.

Posted Mar 24, 2014
Pros: We had a very large room (condo previously?). Free parking. Free wi-fi in the lobby. Great price.
Cons: The hotel is dated and could use a face-lift. Need better elevators.
Location: Walking distance to the island ferry and beach. Bus ride to restaurants and downtown. Car rental location across the street.
Pleasantly suprised with the quality of the hotel for the money spent. Very helpful hotel staff.

Good value

Pros: The hotel had wifi available in the lobby.
Cons: Wifi in rooms, bigger safes (currently can only hold something the length and width of an iPad).
Location: Close to a beach. You can get everywhere in hotel zone by taking a bus for about 10 pesos. The bus runs like every 1 minute, seriously!
The hotel isn't your all inclusive resort with all the bells and whistles but it gets the job done. It's comfortable and close to a beach. You can get everywhere in hotel zone by taking a bus for about 10 pesos. The bus runs like every 1 minute, seriously! I would stay here again.
