First trip to Cancun...Not the last!

Posted Jan 26, 2015
Pros: Staff, Bed, Food and Beach
Cons: Airport trasportation
Location: Snorkeling, fishing, shopping (haggle), night life, parasailing, boat tours, historical locations, beaches, spa and pools.
Sandos was a dream. The all inclusive was a money saver, and the food and drinks flowed freely. Our staff was helpful and friendly. The weather for this trip was forecast as rain every day, so of course the weather was perfect all but the last night, when it lightly off and on for a couple of hours. The beach was perfect white sands and blue water, but it was hard to find a place to sit but not from crowding. People would leave towels on chairs when they left. We waited at the beach bar with free drinks and great food, and watched a few chairs for 30 minutes. When they remained vacant, we claimed them. I'd suggest the hotel staff collect towels periodically. The restaurants were all terrific, but we ate all but four meals at the buffet. The fine dining and Japanese (can't think of the names) restaurants, were awesome, but they took time. You should do each at least once, but we were on the go, so the buffet was a time saver. I enjoyed all but two hours of my stay. Most frequent vacationers have experienced the time share pitch. This one got me two tickets to a relaxing spa/massage, a bottle of tequila, three T-shirts, and a beach bag. The massage made it all worth it but if you don't want to spend the time, just say no thank you. The mini bar has beer, non alcoholic drinks and snacks, but it’s mini. Three or four beers and a bottle of wine, but they do refill daily. Your wrist band is good at two other all inclusive Sandos hotels in the area.

Nice Hotel - Good beach, Great staff

Posted Jan 25, 2015
The hotel staff was exceptional. Check in was a wonderful experience. Reception, concierge and bar staff were excellent. The hotel is small so the staff get to know the people that are staying there, which is nice if you have stayed at larger resorts and want a contrast. Location is good, and the beach was great.

Una estancia decepcionante

Posted Jan 23, 2015

Cons: Rooms could be insulated more. I could hear my neighbors moving around and in the hallway.
Location: close to bus route. Taxis are readily available.
Stayed 5 nights, food was good. Staff were very accomodating. Pool area was clean. Beach was beautiful with aqua waters.

Cons: The room options and quality!
My boyfriend and I had a wonderful stay! We really enjoyed the resort and the staff were great. Our room was very clean, cleaned daily. Room service was good, quick and fast! The only down fall was the food options were very limited and not all that great. Overall, would recommend the resort!

Clean and comfortable but not worth the cost

Posted Jan 7, 2015
Pros: Through Expedia and Tripadvisor
Cons: Better food quality and more varieties. Breakfast especially was lacking sorely. Premium Bar should be open later and be staffed appropriately.
Location: Good location, many activities nearby.
The resort is very clean and organized. However the jacuzzi wasn't working the whole week we stayed there and it was needed badly as it was windy and too cold to be in the pool. Food was very average and service was inconsistent both room service and beach service. Hard to get a good drink and even harder to get it at night. Room service was always 30 mins ETA but usually was 45 mins to an hour. Will stay at a hotel next time and pay as I go, at least it will be worth the cost. Also, many children at this resort, which sometimes was a bit disrupting.

No more Tetra Pak, please.

Posted Jan 5, 2015
Pros: Their pools and gym were pretty good, although too many of the hotel amenities are reserved for the 6 suites on top of the hotel.
Cons: Get rid of Tetra Pack, stop the concierge people from bothering me every single time I go by, trying to sell me some club membership.
Location: It is right on the strip, the location is pretty good. The problem is Secrets hotel with 20 floors next door that block the sun right after noon.
I've been mostly thirsty in this hotel. From right after breakfast they server everywhere tetra pak still drinks, instead of fruit juices. It is artificially flavored and sweetened water with terrible taste. Their orange "juice" tastes like Mirinda from Pepsi. Other non-alcoholic drinks are small selection of Pepsi products, only Pepsi Light when you don't want to drink a sugary drink. They also make all their mixed drinks with Tetra Pak. Awful taste. I talked to the manager and he said it is a deliberate cost saving measure and that they don't care their juices taste bad and are not actual fruit juices at all. They really do try to be a good hotel, you can see all the effort they put into it, but fail in the most important details: food (2nd quality at best), drinks, beds (terrible old, coarse and washed down bad sheets). Another thing was the sticky balcony railing, every time I leaned on it I got glued to it. They don't clean it at all. It would take very little effort and money to improve the hotel to decent quality, but all those little things add up to almost a permanent discomfort during the stay. I should also mention that one of the 3 restaurants was closed most of my stay, the 2nd you can only reserve from noon to 4pm the same day, so if you are active and go to trips, you have no chance to get there. As for the third, it is a buffet style, very mediocre food. Also, most of the facilities are reserved for the 6 suites on top floor. Those are their main customers.
