Hotel Orrington

the hotel room was nice and clean for two people there was not enough space in the bathroom.

I was in evanston to visit northwestern university. when i made the reservation through Expedia the price was reasonable but I was not sure what kind of a room and atmosphere it will be when i get there. I was so pleased with room and the location of the room they gave me. The hotel service, the food all was excellent.

we received maps and directions from our hotel as well as the informations for the public transportaion services avilable which they provided was so helpful.

Where to stay in Evanston!

The valey even liked my car, or at least he said he was impressed (2009 Honda Accord EX with nav). Since they were pulling up BMWs and Mercedes I felt special.....

Perfect for any Northwestern parent. First-class hotel one-half block from the campus. Nothing compares.

Fantastic Hotel

My husband and I were very impressed with the room. The Cleanliness of the room was great. The only things that I wasn’t happy about was the lighting in the bathroom. It could of been much brighter. Also when we put the thermostat on it was very loud especially when we were trying to sleep. Also the cable selections could of been better. You certainly don’t need 5 channels of espn. Otherwise then those few things we for sure would stay there again. Everyone was very friendly and helpful that worked there.

Excellent stay

Wonderful Hotel. Perfectly located for shopping, leisure , beach , university. Was able to walk to neighborhood where relatives lived.

Desk offered two beds for my daughter and me when we were confirmed for a king. Great service.

Charming hotel, good location

Great hotel with comfy beds and interesting decor. Did not feel like your usual hotel. Only a few block walk to the train Good shops and restaurants within walking distance. I would definitely come back to this hotel. Its also only a few blocks from the lake and Northwestern University.

Nice area to stay in

Hotel staff were friendly and helpful throughtout. The location was great for walking to restaurants and around the Northwestern Campus.The parking was nice to have taken care of but the cost was high for just a parking spot.

Orrington

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Orrington. It is just a few blocks from the lake (but you have to pay in order to go on the beach) and right near many great restaurants and shops. It is located right near the campus and we stayed in the summer - I have to imagine when school is in session it would have been a slightly different experience. The rooms were nice and the staff was very helpful. They allowed us an early check-in - four hours early!

Wiener...And Still Champion is a famous hot dog joint not far away and we had a great lunch at Lulu’s Din Sum which is half a block from hotel. You can ride the Metra into DT Chicago-Evanston during the day, the purple-to-red train will bring you in & out of Chicago to Evanston at all hours but it is a MUCH longer ride. Cab from O’Hare to Evanston was about $38 and cab from Evanston to Midway was about $40 flat fee.

Excellent Hotel

Excellent hotel on the North Shore of Chicago, right next to Northwestern University. Professional and friendly staff, convenient cute location, and great rooms. I have already stayed here twice and will again!

Great Hotel

Only stayed at this hotel for one night, but it is a great hotel and conveniently located to the university. The hotel is very modern and well equipped for business and leisure travelers. Great bar. Staff is courteous and friendly. Beds and rooms exceptionally comfortable. Aveda amenities are always a sign that you are staying at a nice hotel. Close proximity to lots of shops, restaurants, movie theaters etc.

Proximity to Northwestern is a great asset. Valet and his team were very helpful.

Lots of light

While we enjoyed our stay in Chicago at this hotel the truth is we spent very little time in the hotel but to sleep and shower. The hotel was in a Great location in a quaint little area in Northern Chicago. Plenty of area locations to dine, very close to public transportation. Not very far from Lake Michigan. The only drawback we found was the room in the hotel lacked blackout curtains on the windows and every morning the Sun came beaming in to our room making it next to impossible to sleep beyond sunrise ( at least the Sun came up). The hotel service was excellent. The staff was friendly and eager to help. The maid who serviced our room was outstanding and every evening we came back to an immaculately cleaned and organized room. This hotel was a great choice and will be hard for others in Evanston to measure up.

Orrington Hotel REview

Bed comfortable, but room and bathroom were too small. The hallway was somewhat dark. Needs refurbishing. Although people can walk anywhere in downtown Evanston and to the beach from the Orrington Hotel, I think it is living on its past reputation as the hotel that is closest to Northwestern University.

The Orrington Hotel is accessible to everything in downtown Evanston from shops and restaurants, to the beaches, to Northwestern university, but many of the rooms are too small. Aside from the lobby area, more updating is needed.

Only complaint is the very small bathroom. No place to set anything down. Otherwise, restaurant, valet parking and comfortable King bed were great.

Would definitely stay again

Hotel Orrington was comfortable and clean. Public transportation was easily accessible, and the beach was within walking distance. Every member of the staff was helpful and courteous. I would certainly stay again!

Good place to stay if you are going to Nortwestern

A very pleasant, small hotel in Evanston, just a block from the Northwestern campus, and located near Evanston’s small down town area. The train to Chicago is only two blocks away. This is a great place to stay if you need to be near Northwestern.

Great hotel and location for visits with our college girl. Within walking distance from campus and town. Polite staff and clean rooms that feel like luxury.

Many places except for the theater close down by 11pm so get your entertaining in early.

Will Stay Here Again - Incredible Location

The room, although a little small but certainly worth the price, was great except for a very noisy air conditioner. The staff and services they provided were second to none. The Downtown Evanston location was incredible. It’s surrounded by all sorts of dining locations, less than a block away from Northwestern University, and just a short two blocks from either the CTA or RTA train stations. I highly recommend The Orrington as a place to stay when visiting Chicago, Evanston and/or the North Shore. Growing up in Evanston a long time ago, I was hardly disappointed about staying at this historic hotel for the first time.

The Orrington is very close to the Northwestern University Campus, the Lake Michigan lakefront, the shops and restaurants of Downton Evanston, and just a quick elevated or commuter train ride away from Downtown Chicago.

Hotel was very comfortable and quiet at night, so I could sleep. Service always nice. I stay here often. Good location. The bathrooms are extremely small and difficult for me to put "my stuff" on the one shelf. It wasn’t the cleanest last visit a couple weeks ago, but the bed is very comfortable and linens very good.

This area doesn’t have a lot of nightlife. Go downtown Chicago for that. This is a college family town.

Great hotel for visiting Northwestern University

The Hotel Orrington is comfortable, clean, and ideally located for those doing business at Northwestern, checking out the school for undergrad or grad programs, or for parents visiting students at Northwestern. On the lobby floor is an attractive and trendy bar and a good sushi restaurant. Evanston cafes, restaurants, and Lake Michigan as well as Northwestern University, are all merely a short walk from the hotel. Book way ahead when big events are happening at Northwestern.
