Great for family vacation

This hotel has a Metro subway station in the basement, a grocery store nearby, a few stores and restaurants which shared the same indoor lobby atrium. It provided a cooked-to-order breakfast every morning which was excellent, and we had a 2 room suite (a tv in each) for the 5 of us. It was exactly what we needed as a family touring Washington DC.

The subway station in the basement of the hotel allowed us to read maps and stand around and discuss what to do without being in the hot humid weather.

excellent value in Friendship Hts/Chevy Chase

This hotel feels bright, new and well-kept. It is across the road from the Friendship Hts metro stop and an easy walk to shopping and restaurants in Chevy Chase. The comprehensive breakfast buffet (included in our room rate) featured omelets cooked to order along with a complete array of breads, cereals and fruit. Suites are large, our bed was very comfortable, and all the plumbing was in perfect order.

Traveler's tip on dining

Clyde’s, within five minutes walk, is a large, locally popular restaurant that’s family-friendly, perfect for brunch, lunch and casual dinner.

Great Hotel

Great Hotel for the price. Nice location if you don’t want to be right in the heart of the city chaos - the subway is right under the hotel, can be somewhat confusing to get your ticket at first but there are usually helpful people around. Excellent shopping and restaurants nearby. Awesome awesome free breakfast in the morning - just about every breakfast food you can think of.

Not too happy

I have to say that location is great and the remodeled furniture are a plus. But this hotel used to cost one third less a night. Some staff at the reception are very nice, others are rude. The lines to get breakfast are ridiculous, both days I had breakfast somewhere else. They need to put more staff and probably review the queue - they make everybody stayed on line for the omelettes eventhough you might only want scramble eggs.

Great Location!

We had a wonderful experience with the Embassy Suites in Chevy Chase. It is very accessible by foot to many great stores and restaurants, as well as the Metro, which can take you anywhere else you want to go in Washington, DC. The complimentary breakfast and managers reception "happy hour" were an added plus! We found this hotel to be very family friendly. We will definitely return to this hotel anytime we travel to Washington, DC. This was our first experience with Expedia and everything went perfectly!!

Traveler's tip on dining

The Cheesecake Factory, located in the Pavilion, was wonderful. We also really enjoyed dinner at Chadwick’s, located less than one block away from the hotel. Both restaurants are very family friendly.

Great get away.

The King size bed and fold out dbl in the livingroom, not to mention two lge flat screen TVs, were great including the full bkfst and evening manager’s reception serving light snacks w/all you can drink juice, soda, wine, beer & standard drinks. Small shopping mall located in the same bldg & across the street. Starbucks & Cheesecake Factory located just downstairs w/Maggiano’s Italian Restaurant just next door (excellent). The Metro (Friendship Heights)located just below this hotel with direct access was so convenient; took about 20 minutes to Union Station on the Red line. We did not rent a car which saved us a bunch of money (pkg a premium in DC). The only negative experience I had w/this hotel was when the maid entered while we were getting ready for dinner (my husband was half dressed) saying the manager said we had checked out (we had two days left). It was a good thing I had a copy of my Expedia confirmation printed out with all my confirmation numbers. Per the manager’s computer, we were supposedly scheduled to be out that day (4 day stay, instead of 6 days). Be sure to have all your paperwork w/confirmations all in order when taking a trip.

Wonderful surprise

My husband and I really enjoyed staying here. The room was comfortable and spacious. The location was perfect. There is a subway station that is within the hotel/mall compex. This makes it very convenient for those wanting to go to the monuments and museums. One of the best things was the complimentary breakfast which included freshly prepared omelettes. I realize we visited in the off season, but we would definitely return here with our children during the summer.

Traveler's tip on dining

There are numerous restaurants and shops within walking distance.

Awesome

We went for our winter break. Had a great time. Breakfast was one of the highlights. The hotel was conveniently located from washington DC. Paying $24 for the parking was the only downside to our stay.

Family Vacation great Loaction!!!

The Hotel is in a nice area. I would have to say other then the free breakfest the best thing was the convenice of the metro. Literaly an elevator ride down and take the escalator and your there. We didn’t rent a car to get around so it was wnoderful. The staff was helpful and always friendly. Being located tin the paviloin was handy as well. There were no Double beds but my kids shared the pull out. We were comfortable all the same.

There is a world market in the pavilion and a grocery store up the block from the hotel entrance. So I was able to stock the room with munchies. we have two teens with endless pits so the breakfest was great and being able to save some money buying beverages and snacks. Great resteraunt with in a block avg $10 - $17pp. Shopping in the area as well. We enjoyed being outside the downtown area only a 15 min. ride to union station on the metro. Will go back.

Not the greatest experience

Upon arrival, we paid the hotel for parking and they did not tell us what to do or give us a ticket to exit the parking garage. When we tried to leave at the end of our stay, we had to re-park and walk back to the front desk to get our ticket. This was extremely inconvenient and time consuming. Also, there was an open banquet area outside of our room that was not cleaned up. There were food scraps and utensils scattered all over dirty tablecloths.

Great place for family vacation

We enjoyed our 3 night stay here. We were sad to leave and will stay here again. The hotel staff were very friendly, room was clean and comfortable, and the location ideal with the metro station down below. We learned to use the metro the first day out to DC.

Traveler's tip on shopping

lots of shops/restaurants in or near the hotel and a grocery store a block from the hotel.

Great place to stay for families.

My family really enjoyed our stay at the Embassy Suites - Chevy Chase. The staff was very friendly, the room was very comfortable and the Metro station was so close that it was quite easy to move around the entire city. I highly recommend this hotel for families.

-the Metro really works well for seeing the city -if you are going to be in the area a couple of days, please try one of the tourmobiles (very economical) -the National Zoo in a must see for small children Enjoy!

Perfect for business as well as leisure. Location and convenience at your fingertips with shopping, restaurants and a metro station without going outside the building.

Very convenient, nice hotel.

Very convenient. Outside of Washington DC proper, but Metro station is attached to the hotel. Less than 15 minutes to most landmarks. Nice mall too (one attached to hotel, another across the street. Excellent breakfast, not your normal "continental" bfast. Omlettes made to order, fresh pancakes, fresh fruit, 6 story atrium. We’ll stay here again.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

We flew into BWI (Baltimore) rather than DC and saved hundreds on our airfare. Shuttle was a bit far (40+ miles), but we still came out ahead.

Great for the Family

Highly recommend for families. We stay every year over the holidays and the recent investment in the rooms which included furniture, bath and bedroom is great and was frankly needed. The manager of the breakfast service always remembers us and our children which is awesome!!

Nice location, good shopping

I stay here at least once a year, and was pleasantly surprised by the room renovations. The room was nice, clean, and comfortable - but the room really stank of smoke (it was a non-smoking room). I’m not that fussy, but all my clothes smelled when I got back - housekeeping should have aired it out much better - if I hadn’t been so pressed for time after checking in, I would have insisted on another room. Otherwise, it is a good hotel, everyone is friendly, and given what you pay for the room, it is nice to get a free breakfast!

Restful, enjoyable, convenient hotel.

Suites are furnished in excellent taste. Beds are really comfortble. Cleanliness is a given. New widescreen HD televisions are lovely to watch. Excellent channel choices. Hotel is quiet and restful. The complimentary breakfast buffet is good. The hotel staff is always very friendly and efficient. All-in-all, a great place to stay. Highly recommended.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Location is convenient to the Metro on the lower level of the mall area just steps from the Hotel reception desk. Buying a day pass will save some money if you are going to be on and off the trains all day long. The machines won’t give back more that $5.00 in cash, so carry smaller bills. Wonderful restaurants -- The Cheesecake Factory and Starbucks in the same building and Maggiano’s next door. Good upscale shopping in near walking distance.

A great find

Hotel was clean and well cared for. All of my requests were met with polite and attentive staff. I especially liked the Chino Cafe, with it’s outdoor feeling veranda over the interior of the hotel and mall. The mall had a Cheese Cake Factory and many interested and designer shops.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

This was a great find in DC. We went for sightseeing and the location to the Metro couldn’t have been easier or closer. We took one elevator a few steps and an escalator and we were at the trains. The area and hotel were clean and safe. We would gladly stay here again. I especially loved the restaurant Bambule, which was walking distant from the hotel. Bambule served wonderful Tapas.

Can’t wait to go back

Our room was spacious and clean. Everything was kept in excellent condition. We enjoyed a complimentary manager’s reception, which included a variety of house wines, draft beers, some mixed drinks and of course, soda and juice for the children. A variety of finger foods were also available such as mozarella sticks, vegetables with dip and chips/pretzels. The atmosphere was lively and the service was very good. In the evening, we enjoyed the pool; the kids enjoyed playing video games; and, the hotel is conveniently located in the Chevy Chase Pavillion, a mall to suit all tastes. Best of all was the complimentary cook to order breakfast, which included custom omelettes, pancakes, bagels, ceral, coffe, juice and more.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

We went to Camden Yards to see the Yankees vs. Orioles. This was a practical and inexpensive alternative that was located just 25 minutes outside of Baltimore that didn’t compromise quality.

Already planning our next stay!

The service, location, amenities, value and convenience to the Metro all combine to make this a great pick when staying in the Washington DC area! The made to order breakfast and the Managers reception were excellent. Great upscale shopping and nice restaurants all within walking distance of the hotel. It’s only a short ride on the metro to get into downtown and the Monuments and Museums.

The Metro is inexpensive, safe and user friendly; a great way to get around. A great thing to know...almost all of the Smithsonian Museums are FREE!

The best hotel ever

We enjoyed our stay in D.C. immensely. Our room was very comfortable. The breakfast every day was wonderful. Happy hour each day was great ,too-not only did they serve free drinks, they had munchies for the kids, too. I would recommend this hotel highly to anyone traveling to the D.C.area. The Metro system was down in the lower level of the hotel-very convenient. The staff was very accommodating-answering any questions that we had. I cannot say enough good about it-the Embassy Suites hotel was awesome!

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

There is no need to rent a car while traveling in Washington, D.C. The Metro will get you any where you want to be. It is clean and on time. Parking is difficult, so save your money and ride the Metro.

Always a pleasure.

We have stayed at this hotel before and always had an excellent stay. This time we went down with another couple who also stayed in the hotel. They too raved about the breakfast, manager’s reception, pool and gym, and convenient location just over the Metro. We started staying there when our daughter started at American University eleven years and have gone back often. Would definitely recommend it.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Chadwick’s restaurant, just around the corner, is a real treat. It is aimed at locals so prices are very reasonable and in good weather sitting on the outside patio at night is delightful. Also, for people who want to use the Metro to see the sights, I would suggest the all-day tickets. You can travel all day, in any direction, with one ticket. Reasonable and convenient.

My husband has already told me that he wants to go back for New Year’s.

This hotel was so convenient to everything, plus we really enjoyed the spaciousness of the room and the beautiful marble and granite that was everywhere. The continental breakfast was fantastic, too. All the members of the staff were very helpful anytime we needed anything. This hotel was top notch.
