Great hotel!
We really enjoyed our stay at the Essex House Hotel. Staff was super friendly and everything from vallet parking to receptionists worked like a charm. Such professional all-around service with a great atmosphere. To be honest, we didn’t expect all this with this price. It’s granted this will be our hotel of choice once we go back to Miami!

Great Hotel
My husband, 11 yr old daughter and I went to South Beach for the day and had so much fun we decided to stay the nite. We didn’t want to walk around looking for the best hotel deal in the area so I called Expedia and they suggested Essex Hotel at a great deal. It was close to the beach, customer service was great and the room was very cozy and clean. We highly recommend this place

Even Better than Last Year
I stayed in this hotel last year while its sister hotel was under construction. This year I got a suite and the rooms were great and quiet. Definitely would recommend this hotel and would stay here again. My only complaint was the pool, which was nice, but it either isn’t filtered enough or has too many chemicals because my skin and hair didn’t care for it. Did some hotel hopping at another pool and didn’t have the same issue, so I definitely think it was the Essex pool filtration system.

Not impressed
The hotel is conveniently located and has a fabulous lounge terrace. They offer free coffee and tea in the morning as well as beach towels. Beach is less than 2 minutes away from the hotel. However, housekeeping almost doesn’t exist. We had to ask them multiple times to clean our room. Even if you display the sign to clean the room or ask their staff to do it earlier, it doesn’t happen.

Great for a girl’s weekend!
We stayed at Essex House for a bachelorette party and had a great time. You can’t beat the location (the neighboring Clevelander is a must) and the price was right. There were only two areas in which we were disappointed: the rooms were a bit musty smelling and the noise from the ally made it difficult to sleep in. Other than that, this was a great boutique hotel. We would stay there again!

Great hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Clean and well kept. It’ connected with the Clevelander also so you get to use their facilities and the hotel is a fraction of the cost of the Clevelander.

perfect location but..
location was really great for quick access to both beach and nightlife..the room was also nice but i have 2 negative remarks.. the "complimentary high speed internet" access was really complimentary but far away from being fast and even stable.. second thing.. i asked for a late check out for just 2 hours (hotel’s regular check out time is at 11:00 am not even 12:00 pm) but they said they were overbooked but if i pay 50usd i could keep the room until 13:30 pm..if it is overbooked you can’t offer it with any additional payment right? i thought it was not cool..

Reality did not Match Pictures
First the pluses: + Location, Location, Location + Nice staff Now the minuses: - Room / lobby did not look as nice as the pictures - Room was small and cramped - Bed was uncomfortable - Garden view overlooked next building roof - Pool was small and gross / unclean My biggest problem with this hotel was that my expectations (based on their pictures) did not match-up to what I actually received. I choose this hotel and paid a little more than other hotels because it looked renovated and comfortable. It was not.

Good location and value for the money
Ver close to the beach; complimentary beach towels every day; in the middle of art deco district; the building is old and you can feel it but the service is good, the sheets are crispy & white, the rooms are very comfortable if you are just spending nights there.

check in problems
Check in is terrible. Rooms were not ready untill 6 p.m. Unfriendy stuff.

Will definately Stay there again
Hotel Staff was incredible and very nice. Hotel was perfect for South Beach. Hotel is a little loud but it’s an old hotel and all in that area built during that time would be the same. Rooms were very clean and the airconditioner worked great. Hotel provides towels to use at the beach and dicount from one of the venders for chairs and unbrellas. Can’t wait to go back
Traveler's tip on dining
Watch out for the resturants on Ocean Drive. Most all of them include the tip in the bill so if you leave a tip be sure and check the bill first. Also they run breakfast specials but if you get a drink that’s were the difference is made

This hotel is in the heart of south beach. its a 2 minute walk to the beach and next to several bars and places to eat.
Traveler's tip
the only downside is that the safe for all your valuble belongings is located at the front desk instead of your room. a little inconvenient.

The room is very clean.The reception people was very kind and pretative. The price was so good,but the Location is excelente. I recomend for a couple.

Nice Place to Stay
The hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The room was plain, but clean. The location is EXCELLENT!!! If you want to be in close proximity to the action on Ocean, this is the place to stay. I would definitely stay there again. The room met all of our needs and was affordable. They even gave out beach towels free of charge!

I would def stay here again!
I really enjoyed my stay here. Perfect location. I didn’t even know until I checked in that they were a sister hotel to the cleavelander.(for those not farmiliar the cleave is a hot spot) I acually preferred to stay at Essex because it is a couple of steps from the crazyness if you choose to get some rest. I would def stay bhere again.

Pleasantly surprised with our stay and ready to come back for more
I decided to spend the extra money and reserve the suite. I think this made our stay that much more enjoyable. The room was spacious with a very nice bathroom which included a built-in jacuzzi tub/shower. Very unique. This hotel is RIGHT in the middle of everything accessible by foot; food, sites, public beach, night life. We spent time both on the front patio lounge area as well as in the walkway between the suite. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and I would stay here again. It is a great bang for the buck.

Hotel was wonderful, however walls to thin, didn’t need to here my neighbors having sex all the time!! Very nosie! Hotel staff was great everyone very friendly and professional.

Doesn’t get any better than this!!!
I can’t say enough about this hotel. Close to airport with free transportation to and from airport. Free breakfast and Exceptional service from this family owned hotel. Very very clean! Excellent coordination from arriving to departing. I arrived at 1:00am and they precoordinated my arrival and everything went very smoothly. Can’t recommend enough. I will definately be staying here again. Thanks

Fabulous!
I checked around first for different reviews of nearby hotels, and chose Essex House. I was so pleased. The service was perfect and very friendly. The hotel itself is well maintained and quite fabulous for its class. Perfectlcy located. More importantly, I went to several other nearby spots for the same price point and Essex House is by far the best. I can’t wait to go back!

The food on Ocean Drive is not as good as other spots in the area. Visit Tantra and Table 8!
