Great location & cute rooms

The hotel is only two blocks away from Ocean Drive (exactly behind Mango’s). You can easily access the beach from there and all of the nightlife and restaurants. The rooms are nicely decorated, although some pieces of furniture and decorations are a bit run down. The bed is comfy and clean, the bathroom is very small. The hotel does offer a free happy hour and they have music playing throughout the day. I really like it...its a party hotel. :)

Chelsea, South Beach

Good hotel conveniently located. Happy hour was utilized but only Vodka & Gin are on offer so don’t get excited if you don’t drink that.

I stayed in this hotel on for a couple of nights mid-week. I was looking for a basic clean hotel in a decent location. The Hotel Chelsea fit the bill. The rooms are modern, but small and dark. It’s a basic comfortable hotel that adds a little bit of modern design to make the place more interesting. The drinks in the evening are a nice touch - note that it’s Gin and Voldka mixes only. The location is 2 blocks from the Art Deco Tourist Center on the beach which makes showering after a swim or time on the beach easy. To summarize, this is a hotel room to sleep and shower in. Not one that you’ll want to lounge around in.

Cannot wait to go back

Hotel is very clean and upgraded. This hotel is part of the South Beach Group and is located near everything, beach, shops, food. The price for the hotel and location are very reasonable for what you are getting with great comfort. Stayed at this hotel repeatedly.

Other Guests

The hotel staff had a habit of leaving the cleaning cart in the hallway, all day. The lobby music is played a bit too loud. Lastly, the staff tended to their own personal business in front of hotel guest.

Pleasant Surprise

I will keep it short. Chelsea is in the heart of South Beach. Chelsea is very affordable. Has a decent bar and decent simple food. Staff is friendly and the hotel is very relaxed. You would be hard pressed to beat Chelsea in South Beach at their low price. Great deal.

Dark!

Overall I was very happy with the hotel. The only problems my friends and I had were that the room was very dark (seriously - there were three lights and yet at night it was hard to see into our bags) and the lobby played loud techno music until very late. This problem could have been compounded because our room was on the first floor very close to the lobby - I’m not sure what the noise level is on the other two floors. I was able to sleep through the music, but light sleepers might not.

Constantly Alive

Hotel Chelsea, in addition to being in the heart of South Beach, had an ecletic vibe that made it seem like night all day long. from 1pm on...music would blare and people of all types would crowd the lobby; there was also an impromptu fashion show one night. if your looking to enjoy South Beach and all it’s glory, I would recommend Hotel Chelsea. It is loud though, from 1pm-4am so if your looking for sound sleep, this may not be your ideal choice. The hotel personnel are wonderful (an added bonus)

the lighting is supposed to be dim; remember this for getting ready to go out. makeup has to be minimal as the only good lighting is in the bathroom

Beware nightclub next door

The hotel is right next door to night club that played loud dance music until 2:00 am. It was very difficult to sleep under these conditions. I do not recommend this hotel unless you are a night owl. Also the shuttle bus only runs every two hours and was late both times.

If You Enjoy the Dark

Hotel Chelsea was definately average, not much to write home about. The hotel service was pretty unsatisfactory. Neither was the staff friendly. The rooms were pretty modern but very dark. So if you enjoy dark hotel rooms this is the place for you.

Quite Eclectic

The location is great for South Beach, walking distance to everything. The rooms need more lighting, but I’ve read that on other reviews. Overall it wasn’t bad.

Nice Hotel...Bad Shower

The hotel was nice, excelent location and clean. But I hated the bathroom. The showers are open so the floor is soaked each time you shower. The walls are stained and the bathroom itself just had a stinch to it. I was grossed out everytime I went in the bathroom. The room was clean, the staff was nice it just was the stained bathroom.

Is not what i expected

I can only said that the hotel wasn’t what i expected.. The photos in the page look so much better than the real deal. The hotel needs a lot of maintenance, everythig is too old and in need for repair. I honestly dont recommend it.

Staff made it well worth it

What a great local chain. We stayed at 2 hotels by the same company and both were nice. They were 3 stars. This one was great. It had a full restaurant and the food was great. The staff was friendly and had great suggestions on what to do and see. The room was high-end but not very well lit. The room was a bit too small. Over all I think it was a great price and the staff made it well worth it.

Traveler's tip on nightlife

If there is one night to live it up it is well spent at the forge. This made the whole trip. Trendy late 30s crowd and great food. The Clubs do not get going till 1 AM, so make sure you plan not to hit them before then. I would suggest dinner at 10. It will take about 45 to be seated even with reservations. Then take your time, the people before you did.

Love this Hotel!

This was the 2nd time to stay at the Chelsea. I love the location, and the staff is especially nice. I definitely would stay here again next time in Miami.

good hotel but showers suck

the shower was unpredictable it took 5 minutes for water to warm up...it was clean though...finally, i have stayed at cheaper hotels that offer free coffee and some snacks..this one charges for everything...also there’s a club that’s open till 4 and you can hear the music..so book it only if you’re planning to stay up late with a hot chika.

Can’t wait to go back

I stayed at the Hotel Chelsea before and after my cruise to the Bahamas. The rooms are fabulous! The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. It’s two blocks from the beach. I would definitely stay here again!

Great hotel

The location cannot be beat - if you are in Miami Beach, that’s the place to stay. The price is reasonable, staff very nice and helpful and the rooms are clean and upscale. I’d recommend this hotel to anyone.

Quaint hotel - nice, clean, close to the action, but bring a flashlight

This is my second time staying here. The hotel staff was very accomodating to the large group that I was traveling with. In 2007, there was a chic clean look to the hotel. In 2008, there were upgrades done to the room - a bigger fridge, new light fixtures, and new decor. The new decor makes the room dark, and there is not enough light in the room. It was extremely difficult to apply makeup in that type of lighting. When we complained to the staff, they could not provide an additional lamp.

Bring your own flashlight if you plan on staying here...otherwise, it’s a good place for the price.

I loved this hotel. It was very different than any place I have ever stayed. The people at the front desk were very friendly and extremely helpful. Very clean. I will stay again....

Stylish springboard for the beach or a night’s debauchery

The Chelsea is true to the spirit of South Beach, in that it offers a sleek touch of class, a festive atmosphere...all within close proximity of a beautiful beach. You’ll never know what to expect in terms of lobby activity; a full-on fashion show was in effect as I arrived for check-in (just in time for cocktail hour). The complimentary cocktail hour was a great way to re-energize for a night’s activities. The drinks were good, as was the company on both sides of the bar. The rooms had a bit of a Japanese style, and the flat screen, well-stocked bar, and stylish bathrooms were definitely a plus. My only complaint is that the toilet malfunctioned a bit. Easily remedied though. No problems otherwise. Great place all around.

O.K. for one night

We would not stay at Chelsea Hotel again. Rooms are too small and dark. Parking is an issue ($45.00 for valet or take your chances on the street). Extremely noisey!!We basically did not get any sleep. We had our kids with us and they HATED it. My husabnad and I found it "interesting" but do not recommend it.
