JB from DC wouldn’t stay in this hotel if they were giving free nights stays!!

This hotel was awful. Where should I start? The elevator and hallways were dangerously dark. I felt like I was in the twilight zone. And the same thing that happened to another reviewer happened to my cousin and I when we asked them to have a cab for us to go to the airport they switched shifts and the new guy had no clue what I was talking about. The curtains looked like they cleaned the floors with them. If you gonna do all white for goodness sake clean it! My blanket had stains on it and there was a big iron burn in the middle of the carpet. If cleanliness means anything to you this is not the place for you. The staff was friendly and that’s the only good thing i can say about this place. The pool is like the size of my bathtub. Please do yourself a favor and don’t believe the hype! The hotel is not as nice as the pics. The elevator was so small that only two people could fit on it at a time. The toilet was broke and ran all night. The hotel seems to have potential to be nice if given a endless supply of Cleaning supplies and laundry detergent and light bulbs....real ones not those blue lights!

Traveler's tip on local attractions

One good thing about this dump is its location. You are literally walking distance from the beach, great shopping, great night life, and great dining. Definitely check out the Lincoln Mall. I found great deals.

Can’t wait to go back!

The restaurant was under renovation due to a flood, but everything else was to my expectation. Their location is great, as it is not too far from the night life and the beach. I like to try different hotels for their amenities and locations but I would definitely return to the New Clinton, specifically room 244 which had a view of Washington Avenue.

Traveler's tip on nightlife

South Beach is always a happening scene. You can’t lose, with clubs, a great beach and wonderful dining! It’s not just a place for the beautiful people but more like a caribbean island without having to leave the country.

Website far better than actual hotel

Perhaps it was timing - but, the hotel is best described as a Hugh Heffner wannabe in the 70s attempting to create a sexy futuristic hotel. The restaurant and front desk were under construction, the place always had a funny cleaning supplies smell, and to top it off, the last night we were there - the room next door across the hall had a fire accident from an overheated exhaust fan in their bathroom. Could you imagine? You forget to turn the bathroom light off and when you get home...oh, your bathroom almost burnt down. Awesome for the stories, but not for the stay.

Rooms were great!!

The rooms were really good. Only problems I had were that the corridors to get to the room were really dark, the elevators were dark. The pool was decent and had a nice lounge type setting poolside which was pretty neat. Excellent location - walking distance to everything!!!

Looks better online - smells awful!!

The Clinton is an older hotel and even though it has been renovated it smells like cheap candles when you walk in and through the halls. The room itself was better than what I thought but it smelled like a hamster cage.... the bed was awful - you could feel the springs through the mattress. The TV was broke and when I called to report the TV a maintenence person NEVER came during the 3 day stay. After opening the shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel all of the caps on the inside were rusty!!! Then to top everything they charged my credit card $48 for mini bar charges!!! I didnt see a mini bar in my room. I called to dispute the charge 4 times and still have not received a response. I filed a dispute with my CC company. This hotel was a disappointment.

Value for money

The hotel has some advantages and disadvantages: Pros: -Hotel Location (2 blocks from beach) -Cleanliness of room Cons: -"Continental" breakfast never existed. Only coffee, tea and couple of pre-frozen bagels were available. Not what I expected of course. - Generally, the condition of the hotel was not the best. Although it was renovated, it seemed that it was pretty old. Also the lighting was very dark, something that many people might not really like - I was not happy when I ordered them a taxi to go to the airport the last day and they have completely forgotten about it because they changed shifts. Of course the new shift called one right away when I reminded them, but I thought it wasn’t very polite. Overall I would say the hotel is pretty good if you want something cheap, near the beach go for it. If you are asking for something extra special, perhaps you have to spend a few more bucks.

Good Location but NOSIY!

The hotel is in a great location! 2 blocks from the beach and Ocean Drive. The decor is nice and exactly like the pics online. The room was nice, spa like with 2 robes and slippers. It is however very noisy! we were in the rooms facing the back of the hotel and everyday at 7AM a dump truck woke us up with its loud banging. The walls r super thin. We could hear our neighbors almoost everytime they spoke. But apart from that it’s a good hotel and we enjoyed our stay.

Traveler's tip

Definetly rent a scooty and drive around So Be. We rented one and checked out everything from North Beach to South Beach Pointe. That’s a nice park to walk around and take a few pics.

friendly people

Firt off the daytime valet guy was outstanding.Checking in was fast, and easy, but the first and only problem i had there was in the first room i got.It was on the 3rd floor in the coner by the exit. The lock did’nt work and the security latch jus fell out of the wall.I made a call 2 have it checked out.Someone was sent up and they fix it,but i called right back and just asked for another room, and they sent the bellhop right up with a new kew and room.Other than that it was a pleasure staying @The New Clinton...

Pleasant stay but can be noisy at times

The Clinton Hotel is about a block nd a half away from Ocean Drive and the beach. The rooms are stylish and clean. It was a very comfortable stay. The staff was friendly and helpful. The only drawback was the noise in the morning of people speaking loudly outside (wasnt sure if these were workers from the hotel but it happened every morning) and the garbage truck. The walls are also thin but if your neighbors aren’t noisy you will be fine . Overall, it was a very pleasant stay. I was impressed with the style and comfort of the room.

Traveler's tip on dining

Pizza Rustica is a great place to get something good yet economically priced to eat. It is located right near the Clinton Hotel. One slice of a variety of pizzas can be a meal for two.

Could be better

The Clinton Hotel is decent, but not somewhere I would stay again. The location is great (2 block from beach and near everything). The rooms are on the small side and could be cleaner. the elevators are so dark that we took the stairs. the entire building smells like blue berries, not a bad thing, but does get annoying after a few days. We only had one less-than-great expirience with the staff.. 2 or 3 days after checking in, they said my credit card was being declined (apparently they put a $75 hold per day as a security deposit). when my card was declined they didn’t call us or leave us a note. instead they deactivated our keys so that when we tried to get back in, we would have to go to the front desk. Not the way to treat a hotel guest IMO. The matter was resolved within 5 minutes, but there was no apology for deactivating our keys. Overall, they are decent, but could use some improvement.

great location

Hotel is 3 blocks away from Beach, with local shops, cafes, night clubs within walking distance. We stayed 4 nights and only took a cab from airport to hotel & hotel to airport. The pool was kind of small but pool area is still very nice to go hang out & chill. I was a little bummed the spa is closed =/ but found one right around the corner on Collins. Hotel was great overall and concierge was very helpful!

Good to sleep as that is what they are for.

Hotel was great for what hotels are for the sleep/ past the night. The spa part of it is not up and running so that is lacking. But the overall look and atmosphere is great. Pool area nice, though pool is not a full pool, more like a personal small pool. I recommend it to stay as rooms where comfrotable and beds above par. I knocked out as soon as my head hit the pillow. Also I dont give perfect feedback on any feedback request as there is always room for improvement.

Good for the Price

The concierges were very nice and offered suggestions on where to go, places to eat, ways to get around, etc. The morning concierge was nice enough to get our room ready by noon on the day we arrived and even brought a bottle of champagne to our room for our anniversary celebration. One turnoff was the dark hallways and the unappealing swimming pool (So. Beach was flooded the day before).

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Don’t waste your time or money at Mango’s -- It’s a rip-off! Paid $27.00 for 2 pina coladas in small coffee sized plastic cups! Puerto Sagua is great lating cuisine at excellent pricing. Ate all meals there every day. Not fancy but great. Bayside is worth the special trip. Little Havana -- nothing to write home about!

Hotel for party-scene goers

This hotel and others near the strip of South Beach are perfect for people going for the party scene. If you expect to get some beach type rest and relaxation you better head to the north beaches, which seemed to be the cleanest, quietest and best beaches--this was also confirmed by the locals. If you must stay at the hotel, ask for a quiet room, and don’t let them put you in a tiny room like they tried to do us.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Also, try to avoid the restaurants on Ocean Drive that charge outrageous amounts for drinks and automatically bill you up to 18% gratuity as part of your bill. The highlight of my trip was when rented a scooter for the day to go touristing. That was so much fun and it was easy to find parking for it.

Will return next year

We had a great experience at the New Clinton in Miami. Location was the best , Mango’s is around the corner and beach was a block away. The staff was very helpful and always had a smile. The only small problem was the thin walls, but we weren’t in Miami to sleep.

Traveler's tip on nightlife

Mango’s is the best no matter what your age is. It had a variation of age groups. The staff puts on a fantastic show, dancing all night and morning long. Food is out of this world.

Great south beach spot

We ended up staying at the Clinton Hotel on south beach by chance, because the hotel we first chose was too far from everything! At first I was so dissapointed to just be changing plans in the middle of my trip, but now we’ll never stay anywhere else, it was the best hotel for the best price, and the most convenient location, next door to any pizza and cafe for breakfast lunch or across the street from "wet willies" the coolest lil restaurant.. they have spiked slushy machines of all flavors soooo good!!

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

DON’T RENT A CAR stay near the beach at clinton hotel and if you want to go to a mall or do something out of the way take the $.25 bus either to lincoln road which has many restaurants and shops or if you want to go to aventura mall it will take about 40 min by bus, but its a nice lil sightseeing ride and that’s the only indoor mall I could find. WET WILLIES is a MUST HAVE and the beach is fabulous!!

modern rooms old hotel

Room was clean and upgraded. Centrally located in South Beach. At check in desk clerk attempted to switch me to a "sister" hotel. Nice place ,as rooms have been modernized and upgraded. Could hear everything that happened in the hallway. To be expected in an old hotel. All in all ,I would recommend.
