10/10 Excellent

"Great hotel next to the river, lovely room over looking the gardens and river, the balcony was a bonus. Food was lovely and the portions large, plenty of parking spaces in front and to the side of the hotel. Great walk along the river bank and through the trees to walk off the dinner. Heading back there Monday 25th May 2026, for more of the same, if your in the area definitely worthwhile staying over here."

"Good free breakfast for all guests although we were charged extra by Expedia which was annoying. Dated decor in the rooms but clean bathroom. Our room was very cold and the heating only worked intermittently (we turned the radiator to full but it came on for about an hour one night and roasted us on the final night, two other nights had no heating at all). Parking was ok but we got the last available space on a couple of days after going out… I think you can park in the approach road for free until 8am but don’t quote me on that."

"Room was clean and comfortable, staff were really friendly and helpful. The bar had a cosy, comfy friendly local feel about it. The only thing I can mention negatively is that Expedia has the walking time to Durham down incorrectly. I think they meant it is a 13 minute drive not a 13 minute walk. This was no fault of the place where we were staying. It still wasn't a problem though, there is a bus stop straight across the road and an uber cost under £10. We didn't have food there because we'd already eaten, but there was plenty of choice on the menu all at a good price. We would definitely stay again"
