“I stayed at this historic hotel for 3 nights back in July 2016 and absolutely loved it. The hotel was MUCH busier back then, completely full of guests. Now, in July 2026, I am sad to say that the hotel is not up to the same standard that it was 10 years ago. The entry had a musty smell, as did the 2nd floor hallway. There was a THICK layer of dust -GROSS!- below and behind the bed. I know this because I had to plug in my phone charger into the wall socket behind the bed because the socket that……

“We have stayed at the Gin many times and this stay was very good. The property, while historic, is well maintained and clean. I was concerned by some reviews but found everything to be well cared for. Our accessible room was large, spotlessly clean, had high ceilings, heavy woodwork, and a modern updated bath. The staff was polite and helpful. Breakfast is minimal and self-serve but was adequate for our needs.”

“It was a hidden treasure located in the mountains. It was quiet and peaceful, and the staff was very nice.. I look forward to staying there again if I’m ever in the area.”

“There was a person sleeping in the gazebo one morning when I left my room, I also checked in early and was charged an early check in fee for a room that was empty. I felt like that was something that could have been waived. Also my key cards didn’t work after the first day and when I went to get them fixed the front desk person asked me why I was given a room in the dungeon, I also had several people on my floor slamming doors and yelling in the hall way past midnight.
