Bars, casinos and a bingo hall are among the classic coastal traditions of a district known for possessing Blackpool’s oldest pier.

The North Shore is graced with a range of fun entertainment venues and historic buildings that provide excellent views of the Irish Sea. Just outside the city center, the neighborhood has a serene ambiance, with leafy parks and coastal lodgings. Visit North Shore to enjoy views of the historic Edwardian façades of listed buildings as you stroll along the main promenade.

At the southern end of the district is one of its main attractions, the North Pier. Walk out along the pier, which dates back to the 1860s, making it the oldest of the city’s piers. Sip drinks at the bar and attend a performance at the theater. Enjoy traditional British coastal experience at the Victorian tearoom, the palm reader and the ice cream parlors.

Near the entrance to the pier stands the Blackpool Central Library, whose baroque Edwardian design makes it stand out. Visit the Grundy Art Gallery within for its historic and artistic displays.

Make your way north parallel to the coast to reach Gynn Square, a spacious leafy plaza along the water. Also known as the Jubilee Gardens, the site has an artificial waterfall and provides unobstructed views of the sea.

On a summer afternoon, enjoy the open green space of this district, by practicing your swing at the Blackpool North Shore Golf Club. It has 18 holes, with varied lessons and competitions. Try your luck at the Genting Casino Blackpool or Mecca Bingo.

North Shore lines the northern part of Blackpool’s coastal area. From the center of the city, walk northwest for less than 1 hour to reach North Shore or travel by bus to a nearby stop. You can also ride the Blackpool Tramway from the Tower stop to the Cabin stop and get around the area on foot. While you’re in Blackpool, make sure to see other surrounding zones including South Shore, Blackpool Park and Cleveleys.

"Very, very tired hotel. Reasonably clean though, and the staff at check were helpful. We didn’t have breakfast as we were up and out early, but did try a beer in the bar which was priced about right. It’s obvious that this was once quite a grand place but it’s just so tired now. For the price we ..."
