“We stayed 2 nights and paid £114 per night for bed and breakfast in a Heritage room called Irvine. The soundproofing in the room was shocking with a loud humming noise coming from behind our bed and the noise of doors slamming and guests talking. When I reported this to receptionist she acknowledged that the humming noise was from the room next door’s plumbing. I was not offered a different room. We were visited by both a spider and cockroach in the bathroom.

“Really lovely locally owned and run hotel.
Our kingsize upgraded room was stunning, and massive. Spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The homemade shortbread in the room was incredible, and they even refilled it when we scoffed it all!
Breakfast was tasty, and the hot food was made to order.
The on-site gym “The Unit” was really great and fully included in the room rate, which felt like a treat!
They are clearly modernising the hotel to an high standard, and as far as we saw only the……
