The parking is not onsite. When asking valet for parking options they only had a public parking garage and public parking on the street that was always taken. The first room had a broken bathroom door and toilet seat was broken. They gave us another room and the faucet and toilet seat were loose. The shower has no door so water just falls to the floor making it extremely slippery. I understand due to the hurricane there are repairs needed to the outside but it would be nice to know if someone is on the roof so that when you are changing clothes you wouldn’t be shocked by men walking by your window. This was a beach view and had no idea people would be walking on the roof. Elevator worked the first day but was out the next two days. Rooms are small. Dining and Lobby was beautiful but combined with all the issues, it’s not worth the money, in my opinion.

The hotel has undeniable historic charm and is very picturesque. Its location is excellent, being close to the beach and the boardwalk, making it convenient for enjoying the local attractions. However, I was disappointed with the level of hospitality we received during our stay. After a long day at the beach, we were unloading our cooler when a valet driver named Dennis loudly informed us from across the lot that coolers were not allowed in the hotel. While I understand hotel policies, his approach was rude and confrontational. When I suggested a more courteous way to interact with guests, he started arguing with me in front of other guests, turning it into a shouting match. As I headed to the elevator, another staff member reiterated that coolers weren't allowed. I asked to speak with a manager, and Derell came to address the situation. He confirmed the policy but was initially dismissive until I mentioned my background in hospitality. Eventually, we complied and left the cooler in our truck. What really bothered me was the inconsistency in enforcing these policies. Later, we saw another family taking a cooler to their room without any issue. Similarly, my wife was told that children couldn't bring floaties to the pool, yet when we arrived, other children were using floaties and pool noodles. To top it off, at checkout, one of the concierge staff was more one of the concierge staff was more focused on texting than assisting guests.

The rooms were attractive and clean, but the rooms were terribly small. There was no place to put your luggage and only one chair in the room. The commmunity rooms were very welcoming and we spent a great deal of time visiting there. My biggest disappointment was not being able to get a cup of coffee in the evenings.

Since the remodel the hotel as whole we think the hotel is gorgeous. The check in person on the other hand was very slow to get people checked in. There was one other person in front of me and it took him 15 minutes to get to me. Also I found out when I was checking out there was a 40$ “resort fee” apparently they were supposed to charge that at check in. We did like the room except for the hair we found under and around the vanity. We are also dissatisfied that you don’t offer the free parking in the garage anymore we were told at check in “there is parking all around just find a spot on the street”. I asked about the parking garage and I was told “yes you can park there or vallet for 140$. There have been a lot of changes since we started coming in 2017. I am not sure I like them all. We do love the history and The Hotel Galvez. We are not sure we will come back as this was by far the least satisfied we have been. Thanks

Our room smelled like mold and the carpet in our room was damp. The espresso/coffee machine was broken in our room and didn’t work. Got hot throughout the night even with the AC set on 69. The halls also smelled like mold on the 4th floor. Was expecting alot more for what we paid to stay there for ONE night.

Historic hotel beautifully renovated. A few complaints: 1) Very weak shower, 2) No reliable news and commentary available (e.g. CNN, MSNBC) only FOXNews, which was found liable of defaming Dominion voting machines by knowingly spreading falsehoods to its viewers.
