Staying at Kachina was convenient. We were dropped off by the Trans-Canyon Shuttle a couple of buildings away and were able to walk to check in at the El Tovar in a few minutes. The next morning we were hiking from the South Rim to the North Rim and the Bright Angel Trailhead was a few minutes walk from the hotel. The only problem with the stay was the unavailability of food options for dinner. We didn't realize most of the dining rooms required reservations, so we only had one option: a reduced option take-out menu that was on the expensive side. The food was good though! We were just worried for a minute about not having a good dinner before hiking 24 miles the next day!

Dining facilities were inadequate, probably due to the early season and recovery from Covid. Understandable.

Despite the mixed reviews we book a one night stay at Kachina. The accommodations were adequate and the biggest appeal to staying here are the Grand Canyon Views and easy access to the park. You're a few steps away from hiking trails, trams, and restaurant at next door hotel El Tovar (where you also check-in.) We got lucky with parking, however, there aren't dedicated spots for hotel guests so this can be an issue. The staff at next door El Tovar were friendly and we had no issues with our stay.

After hiking 12 hours we wanted to relax and watch TV, but the TV was old and blurry. Other than that everything was amazing, except no shuttles to the visitor center so had to walk another 2 miles to get the car. Very disheartening... would recommend to others :)
