“A wonderful guesthouse a few miles outside of town. It had everything we needed and the communication with the owners was great. The only small downside was the combo washer/dryer took 5 hours to do a very small load and we couldn't use it overnight because it was right next to the pullout bed.”

The shower pressure was a bit low, and the property itself looked a little sketchy at first glance, but don't let that deter you. “Kohala Lodge is not just a place to stay, it is a destination. If you visit the Big Island, it is one of the bucket-list experiences you must have. Scenic, tranquil, magical all come to mind. Sit on the expansive front porch and contemplate that you are on an island in the Pacific with a view of Maui in the distance. Feed the animals with pellets provided by the owner. When the breeze gets quite cool, you can build a fire in the stone fireplace with wood provided by the owner. I did not cook, so……

“I loved staying at Maggie’s studio in Hilo. It was really clean and spacious. There were plenty of parking and I like the usage of having a kitchen and the convenience of a washer and dryer. I would come back and stay here again the next time I’m back at the big island. ”

Not a fancy place, but had everything we needed and was well stocked and had nice touches like a lot of plugs around! Nice and helpful host, too! Would stay again on a return trip!”

“Great private location, quiet and beautiful place to relax but close to activities. We cooked most of our meals there in the little kitchen which provided most of the essentials. The washer and dryer was perfect for our week stay. The room stayed cool with the extra fans. We definitelywill be returning. ”
