A beautiful savannah sparrow in a native prairie setting.
Another Savannah Sparrow from the grasslands. The county did a magnificent job of turning this large tract of land back into native prairie supporting bobolinks, savannah and henslow's sparrows, meadowlarks and my favorite yellow headed blackbirds.
A closeup portrait of a male bobolink. I always enjoy the challenge of shooting these birds as they are tough to properly expose with the black and white feathers. They are striking birds in summer when the males change to their breeding plumage. They are named after the call they make which is very distinct and something I always look forward to hearing when I visit the grasslands.
