“Coming to Shipshewanna, we booked a room at Essenhaus Inn because our usual hotel was totally booked. I cannot begin to say how much we enjoyed our stay in the atrium! From the friendliness to the cleanliness...from the free brunch to the free "afternoon" cookies...we were really impressed. Next trip to Shipshewanna will find us staying at the Essenhaus Inn again!”

“We were not happy at all with the room. The bed was so high we could not get on it. Could not relax in any way because it was either the bed or 2 wooden chairs. Carpeting was not clean. This was not very accommodating at all for 2 people in their 80's.”

“No AC. Not broken,just non-existent. Earwigs over bathroom door, plaster bits on bathroom floor, no toilet paper in room, no chairs at all, two throw pillows as sleeping pillows, nothing larger. Dilapidated building, car got scratched up while there, knocking and loud music until around 4AM. TV went on by itself at around 1AM, 2:37AM, and again around 3:30AM, at which point we unplugged it from the wall. There was a mini fridge and microwave, both unplugged, in the room and water on the……

“Overall, we had a good stay. Check—in was unique. The rooms were spacious with very good furnishings. The bathroom floor seemed less than 5 star. Except for some nice area rugs in the two main rooms the floor was a finished concrete. On the upper level, and with only 11 rooms, there was minimal noise! An entrance other than the truck stop “store” would have been a better option, such as using the stairs on the north end with key access. The shower was great, however each of us slipped on its……

“I love odd places which is what made us go with this hotel, the common area with the pool and playground feels super liminal and gives the feeling of urban exploration without being scary. That being said, the pool area did have an insane amount of roaches. The ice bucket and tray it was on in the room also had mold. The beds were super comfy and the sheets were amazing, no bugs in the room itself and we didn't even try the breakfast with how many bugs we saw the night before around that area.……
