"Lovely rooms, serious maintenance issues "
The rooms are beautiful, thoughtfully designed, v comfortable. Wonderfully comfy bed and pillows. Room service food excellent, and lots of free/cheap extras in the room and the hallway pantry. Though some of the staff were the usual surly London types, others were really lovely and considerate. They do nice little things like print out your boarding pass for you and bring it to your room! The staff responded instantly, late at night, when my tv didn't work, and helped me move to an upgraded room. So far so good. But the plumbing in the new room smelled awful -- like a sewer. When I mentioned it, they didn't seem surprised and sent someone who somehow made the bathroom smell good, but only for an hour or so, after which the overpowering smell returned. The bathroom had proper double doors and with them firmly closed there was no smell in the room (just in the bathroom). Still, this was unacceptable, especially in an otherwise lovely place that charges a lot.

Pocket Guide: Kings Cross St. Pancras, London Romantic Hotels

With the Eurostar and many metro and train lines at St Pancras and King's Cross stations, most people know the bustling area as a transportation hub. Thanks to a redevelopment, it is now much more. Restaurants, galleries, and a street market have opened near Regent's Canal. St Pancras also has Europe's longest oyster bar, and don't forget the Harry Potter Store at King's Cross Platform 9 3/4.
