"Room was quite small but very well equiped, everything worked and there was a bottle of chilled water in the fridge which was very much appreciated. Pool looked nice (didn't use it but several people did), not much in the way of a garden, small but well stocked bar. Restauarant was superb, really enjoyed our meal. Breakfast was very good, plenty of selection and good coffee from the machine. Hotel was very easy to find."

Top Lacombe Hotel Reviews

Hôtel Le Donjon - Coeur de la Cité Médiévale

8/10 Good

"The hotel was wonderful. The property itself was very interesting in a brilliant location. What let it down was the state of the bedroom and the bathroom. In a four-star hotel, you do not expect mold in the bathroom and stains and bald spots on the carpets in the bedroom. A nice hotel, a great location, but perhaps a little bit of updating needed in one of the bedrooms."

Hotel l'Octroi

8/10 Good

"The room was clean and staff very helpful. However, the room is very small and the bathroom is a wet room, meaning no separate shower from the rest of the bathroom. The shower wand is not user friendly and we didn’t realize when we turned on the water that it lterally sprayed across the room, wetting our bathroom countertop and personal items. No coffee in the room if you like having a cup first thing in the morning."

Résidence Carmina

10/10 Excellent

"The hotel is perfectly situated for visiting the medieval city of Carcassonne. If you are looking for a central hotel at a reasonable price this is the perfect choice. The room was a spacious apartment with separate living/kitchenette and bedroom. The bathroom was spacious. The bed was very comfortable and the apartment was well furnished and clean. The residents of the hotel were friendly and I think it is a good idea to utilise the spare rooms for hotel guests. The hotel had secure parking as well."

Tribe Carcassonne

8/10 Good

"The hotel has a great view of the castle and the roof top bar is definitely a bonus. The room was clean and have everything we needed however the toilet was in what can only be described as a cupboard with no space at all. The decor was too dark so much so that we couldn’t find the light switches! The carpet was black and when we dropped a black hair brush on the floor it took us 10 Minutes to find it!"

Comfort Aparthotel Carcassonne

10/10 Excellent

"This was terrific value for money and would happily stay again. While it's a good 15 mins or so up a hill from the station, for £40 or so, there's nothing at all to complain about- big rooms with cooking facilities, microwave and even a dishwasher should you need it, a lovely swimming pool and staff who were knowlegable and extremely helpful; particularly Guaytan , who couldn't have been more efficient and personable. All in all, very good."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Lacombe?

The best area to stay in Lacombe, Occitanie, is directly within the village of Lacombe itself, or in one of the surrounding, slightly more secluded properties located in the Montagne Noire foothills.

For travelers seeking a tranquil escape, staying directly in Lacombe offers a truly relaxing experience. The village is small and quiet, characterized by traditional stone houses and narrow streets. It's an ideal base for exploring the regional natural park, with hiking and cycling paths readily accessible directly from the village. This area is particularly well-suited for couples looking for a peaceful retreat.

Alternatively, for those desiring more privacy and space, consider accommodations just outside the village, often found among the gentle slopes and forests of the Montagne Noire. These properties typically offer more expansive views and a greater sense of seclusion, while still being a short drive from Lacombe's center.

When is the best time to go to Lacombe?

The best time to visit Lacombe is during the spring (April to June) and early autumn (September to October) when the weather is pleasant and the crowds are smaller.

Spring offers comfortable temperatures, typically ranging from 15°C to 25°C (59°F to 77°F). The countryside is lush, and wildflowers are in bloom, making it ideal for outdoor activities like hiking and exploring the Cathar castles. You'll find fewer visitors compared to the peak summer months, allowing for a more relaxed experience.

Early autumn also provides excellent weather, with temperatures similar to spring and the added bonus of harvest festivals in the surrounding vineyards. This period is superb for those who enjoy wine tasting and exploring local markets without the intense summer heat.
