Such a chill & comfortable environment!! Ridiculously close to the beach where there are, what appeared to be, a great spot to catch some waves. There are surf & boogie boards to rent in house! Loved that they have staff at the front desk at all times to monitor those coming in. Even with door code that's changed daily it's nice knowing random peeps couldn't just come in with guests. Plenty of lounge areas to chill & meet other guests. Enjoyed my stay here & would return in a heartbeat!!! def...

My husband and I went for a little weekend getaway and the hotel was lovely. We had an ocean view room with a big balcony. It was surprisingly quiet. You can walk everywhere, we left our car parked the whole time. The hotel staff is so friendly!!

This is my very first time staying at a Hostel so I was very apprehended and nervous being a female traveler by myself! The place is located not far from downtown. It’s accessible to everything. I was a little....well a lot nervous and scared! Lol I did not sleep the first night having a big amount of anxiety! But it was quite clean the staff were super nice and comforting! I am not super social so I spoke to others briefly but kept to myself. If this is your first experience at a Hostel I...

The hostel was clean and the staff were friendly. We had a private room that offered many amenities most hostels don’t such as a TV, fridge and sink in the room. The bathrooms and showers were also private stalls which was nice. It is a bit hard to find as it is above a taco shop so we did have to look around for the door but all good once found. It also has a security lock as well. One block from the boardwalk/beach and there is a big free parking lot down the street if you can’t find street...

We had two rooms next to each other on the ground floor, that were very comfortable. The amenities such as a refrigerator in the room, a screened window that opens for ventilation, great AC, and a very nice pool area with great seating and landscaping, were features that will bring us back to this hotel. We enjoyed the free breakfast options and used the microwave also when we had leftovers from a restaurant. The staff were friendly and helpful also. Summer prices were reasonable compared to...

Which area of Lakeside is best to stay in for cheap hotels?
For travellers seeking cheap hotels in Lakeside, California, the areas around Maine Avenue, the town's main thoroughfare, and along the periphery of Lindo Lake Park offer the best opportunities for affordable accommodations. These areas provide convenience to local amenities while featuring a concentration of budget-friendly lodging options.
Solo travellers will find that many of the more economical motels and inns are situated directly on or just off Maine Avenue. This central placement allows for easy access to local shops, eateries, and public transportation routes that can connect to broader San Diego County. While Lakeside is a smaller community, these central locations offer a practical base from which to explore without overspending on lodging.
Families looking for value might consider options closer to Lindo Lake Park. This area often features motels that cater to longer stays or offer slightly larger rooms at great prices. The park itself provides a free recreational space with playgrounds and walking paths, offering an inexpensive way to entertain children.
When is the most affordable time to visit Lakeside?
The most affordable time to visit Lakeside, California, is typically during the off-peak seasons, specifically late fall through early spring, excluding major holidays. During these months, demand for accommodations and local activities tends to decrease, leading to lower prices.
For solo travellers, visiting between November and February (excluding Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's) can offer significant savings on lodging. You'll find quieter trails and a more tranquil atmosphere around the lake and surrounding parks, which is great for reflective walks or enjoying nature without crowds. This period also often sees fewer events, contributing to the overall lower cost of a trip.
While the weather might be cooler, Lakeside still offers plenty of outdoor opportunities for budget-conscious travellers, such as hiking in the local preserves or enjoying the scenic views around the lake.
Is Lakeside a budget-friendly destination?
While Lakeside, California, generally isn't considered a prime tourist destination, it can be a budget-friendly option for travellers seeking outdoor activities and a relaxed atmosphere.
For solo travellers and couples, accommodations are typically more affordable than in nearby coastal cities. Consider staying in motels or vacation rentals, which often provide better value. Public transportation is limited, so having a car is recommended to explore the surrounding natural attractions.
The main appeal of Lakeside lies in its free or low-cost outdoor recreation. Lindo Lake County Park offers opportunities for fishing, walking, and picnicking, while the nearby El Capitan Preserve provides hiking trails with scenic views. Exploring the local antique shops and diners can also be an enjoyable and inexpensive way to experience the area.
What free activities should we do in Lakeside?
For solo travellers visiting Lakeside, California, a variety of engaging and free activities await, primarily centreed around its natural beauty and outdoor spaces. You can spend your days exploring the scenic Lindo Lake Park, a prominent feature of the community, offering picturesque walking paths, opportunities for birdwatching, and serene spots for relaxation by the water.
The park is an ideal location for a leisurely stroll or a quiet afternoon with a book. Additionally, you can discover various local hiking trails that wind through the surrounding landscapes, providing excellent opportunities for exercise and connecting with nature. These trails cater to different fitness levels, from easy walks to more challenging routes, all offering beautiful views of the Lakeside area.
Is it cheaper to book a Lakeside hotel and flight package?
Booking a hotel and flight package on Expedia can be cheaper than booking flights and hotels separately. Bundling can lead to significant savings, especially for international travel or when booking well in advance. However, savings vary depending on factors like destination, travel dates, and availability, so it’s wise to compare options. With access to over 300,000 hotels worldwide, Expedia makes it easy to build the perfect vacation package.
Can I cancel my budget hotel reservation on Expedia?

Be sure to check your booking confirmation for the exact cancellation policy. For maximum flexibility, use Expedia's "Fully refundable property" filter during your search to find the right budget hotel in Lakeside for you.
