"Nice hotel "

"The hotel is clean and attractive with good facilities. Unfortunately my experience was not good, my room lost power at 9pm, I reported it to reception and was asked to wait at the bar while they investigated. After an hour the receptionist informed me they could not restore power to my room, I said that I was not happy to stay in a room without electricity and asked to be moved to a different room but was informed they were fully booked. So I had no choice but to check out at 10:30pm to try to find alternative accommodation, the receptionist was not abke to refund my stay when I checked out and was told the reservations manager would do it the following day. I have called the hotel today but the reservations manager is not at work, so now I am chasing Hotels.com for a refund while they liaise with the hotel and am faced with a 24-72 hour wait for a refund. I am sure if you stay at the Guildford Manor Hotel and Spa you won't face similar issues, but my experience has been a bad one. "

"Sadly I did not have the best experience whilst staying here. Firstly there was very loud party music being played late at night in the garden beneath my room window despite there being no one there. I tried to call reception to ask them what time it would be switched off but my room phone wasn’t working. I then left a message on my booking page, no response. I then found the hotel number to ring from my mobile but the website stated they were closed so I wasn’t sure I would get a response. Someone thankfully did answer, I told them about the music and they said they would switch it off, which they did. I do think the staff forgot to switch it off and had I not called it would have continued right through the night! Shower did not drain so I needed to keep switching it off to allow draining to avoid floods. I tried to make a cup of tea but the milk in the fridge was 3 days out of date so I couldn’t use that. Overall not the best stay! :( "

"The staff were friendly and welcoming and the room was perfect. We stayed on after checkout and used the facilities in the bar and had a walk around the estate. Breakfast was great and overall our stay was amazing."

"We stayed at Thatcher’s Hotel (part of Surya Hotels) for three nights during half term. Overall, it’s an average hotel but offers good value for money. The rooms have been renovated and are modern and comfortable, and the beds were very comfortable which we appreciated. However, there were a few downsides. The room was extremely hot during the night, which made it difficult to sleep comfortably. Breakfast was average — nothing special — and dinner in the evening was also average but quite expensive for what it was. The location is on a main road near a petrol station, so it’s not the most scenic setting. You do need to drive to find somewhere nice for a proper walk. It’s also worth noting that during our stay we were the only guests with children, so it felt more like an adult-focused hotel rather than a family-oriented one. In summary, it’s fine for a short stay and reasonably priced, but don’t expect anything exceptional."
